271 more get jab in Panchkula district

As many as 271 healthcare workers here received the first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine against a target of 500 on Wednesday.
The five sites where the vaccination drive was held were the Civil Hospital, the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Barwala, Alchemist Hospital, Ojas Hospital and Paras Hospital.
The coverage rate on the eighth day of the vaccination drive stood at 54.2 per cent.
On Monday, the vaccination coverage was 71.5 per cent.
At an achievement rate of 60.8 per cent, 2,828 healthcare professionals have got the first jab so far.
As many as 6,219 health workers — 3,541 government and 2,678 private professionals — have been identified for the first phase of the drive.
City witnesses 40 new covid cases
Chandigarh: The city on Wednesday reported 40 fresh cases of Covid, taking the Chandigarh case tally to 20,819 and the toll to 334. A total of 37 more patients recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. TNS
One fatality, 28 fresh cases in Mohali
Mohali: One person died of Covid-19, while 28 new cases were reported from the district on Wednesday. As many as 84 more patients have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours. Among the new cases, 23 were reported from Mohali (urban), two from Gharuan and one each from Dhakoli, Dera Bassi and Kurali. The district has so far seen 19,360 cases, of which 18,387 have been cured. There are now 612 active cases. With one more death, the toll in the district stands at 361. TNS
Nine fresh cases reported in P’kula
Panchkula: The district on Wednesday reported nine fresh coronavirus cases, taking the overall tally to 10,486. The Covid toll remained at 147. As many as 10,241 have recovered from the infectious disease so far, while 98 cases are still active. The recovery rate of the district stands at 97.66 per cent. TNS
