27 Panjab University students clear Haryana judiciary exam

Students of the Department of Laws and University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, have excelled in the Haryana Civil Services (Judicial Branch) examination.

Abhidha Gupta from the LLM 2024-25 batch of UILS has secured top rank in the exam. The other successful candidates, including Madhav Mittal, Paramvir Singh Kadian, Alpna Singh, Jashanpreet Singh Benipal, Uditi Mittal, Ekamjot Kaur and Kritika Nagpal, have studied in both the UILS and Department of Laws at PU.

Eight students from the Department of Laws, including Kunal Mittal, have cleared the HCS exam. As many as 19 students from UILS have also cleared the exam. They include Tanuj Handuja, Jasmine Bawa, Aayushi Arora, Mansukh Garg, Mehak, Aachman Shekhar, Apurva Arora, Jyotsana Rawat, Eklavya Gaur, Pawanpreet Dhanoa and Shivani.

Lauding the achievement of the students of the Department of Laws and UILS, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Renu Vig congratulated the successful students, their parents and teachers.

UILS Director Prof Shruti Bedi and Department of Laws Chairperson Prof Vandana Arora also congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue to strive for excellence. They attributed the success of both the departments to the faculty members’ tireless efforts and guidance in creating a supportive ecosystem.

“Judicial services demand immaculate values and integrity and UILS students have consistently proven their mettle in achieving success in the examination. This remarkable feat showcases UILS’ commitment to nurturing talented individuals, making a significant mark in the judicial profession,” Prof Shruti Bedi said.

Prof Vandana Arora said, “Every year, our students excel in competitive exams by dint of sheer hard work and the guidance provided by the faculty members. The faculty members constantly groom them right from appearing in written exams to preparing them for interviews. Moots, debates, quiz competition and memorial lectures by judges and academia are regularly conducted, which motivate, inspire and provide exposure to the students and help them develop their overall personality and confidence required to succeed.”
