Police have registered 14 FIRs in connection with illegal mining activities this year, official data showed. Besides, authorities have also recovered penalty worth Rs 3.36 crore from the district in the last six months.

Around 76 vehicles have been challanned and impounded, and Rs 27.5 crore has been recovered from the violators.

Deputy commissioner Aashika Jain reviewed the functioning of district drainage-cum-mining and geology division. She said a permit fee of Rs 1,70,65,456 has been generated in the district under permits K-1, K-2 and BKOs, adding, “The Mining and Geology officials have been asked to comply with the implementation of the mining policy strictly and no one would be spared on finding violating the rules.”

A total penalty of Rs 18.3 lakh has also been recovered from stone crushers violating mining and geology policy, the DC said.
