13 stolen motorcycles recovered in Panchkula, suspect arrested
The Panchkula police have arrested a man for theft of motorcycles and recovered 13 two-wheelers from his possession.
Addressing the media, Panchkula ACP (Crime) Arvind Kamboj said the Crime Branch, Sector 19, the suspect has been identified as Rohit (27), a resident of Uttar Pradesh, who is currently living as a tenant at Mouli Jagran, Chandigarh.
He said in his complaint to the police, Sonu, a resident of Mauli Jagran, had said he had parked his motorcycle at Circle Park, Sector 5, Panchkula, on September 20. When he returned after some time his motorcycle was missing.
On Sonu’s complaint the police registered a case against the accused under Section 303 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Kamboj said a team of Crime Branch, Sector 19, led by Inspector Yogvindra Singh arrested the accused from Sector 5 Circle Park on November 2.
He was produced in a local court and sent on three-day police remand.
“During the remand period, the police recovered 13 stolen motorcycles from different places on the basis of revelations made by the accused. The recovered motorcycles bear Haryana and Punjab registration numbers. These will be returned to the owners after completion of formalities,” he said.
