11 youths booked for assault
Chandigarh: Eleven youths have been booked for attacking a person with sharp weapons. Two cars parked at the spot were also vandalised by the suspects. According to the police, the complainant, Harwinder Kumar, a resident of Mauli Jagran village, alleged that the suspects, identified as Gurpreet, Mukesh, Ravi, Rahul, Vicky, Kartik, Duggi and four others, allegedly attacked his cousin, Amrik Singh, with sharp weapons and bricks near his house. Bag containing valuables stolen
Chandigarh: An unknown person stole a bag containing valuables from Amrit Pharmacy store at the PGI. The complainant, a resident of Phase VII, Mohali, stated that unknown person stole a bag containing a gold ring, documents and Rs. 6,000. A case has been registered. TNS
Man booked for theft
Chandigarh: The UT police have booked a former employee for stealing ornaments from the Tanishq showroom at the NAC, Mani Majra. The complainant, Prabhakar Kumar, alleged that Sunil Kumar, a native of UP, managed to steal gold bangles and a gold chain in November last year. A case has been registered at the Mani Majra police station. TNS
Youth stabbed by juveniles
Chandigarh: A 19-year-old youth was stabbed by two juveniles at Mani Majra. Both the suspects were apprehended and sent to juvenile home. The complainant, Sahil Sharma of Mani Majra, alleged that Ashish, alias Tota, and Sonu allegedly assaulted him and stabbed his cousin Munish, near Shivalik Garden, Mani Majra. Munish got injured and was admitted to the PGI. TNS
Mobile phone snatched
Chandigarh: Two unknown persons escaped after snatching a mobile phone from a Hallo Majra resident. The complainant, Kulwinder Singh, stated that two persons snatched his mobile phone near his house. A case has been registered. TNS
Seized drugs disposed of
Chandigarh: Drugs seized by the Chandigarh Police in 93 cases registered under the NDPS Act at eight police stations were disposed of by the Drug Disposal Committee. The police said 958.487-gm heroin, 8.78-kg charas, 52.6-gm smack, 148.357-kg ganja, 20-gm cocaine and 30 injections were disposed of at Rainbow Environments Pvt Ltd, Sector 69, Mohali. TNS
Oil-laden truck overturns
Zirakpur: Normal traffic was disrupted after a truck loaded with refined edible oil overturned in a bid to avoid hitting an auto-rickshaw at the Patiala chowk on Wednesday morning. No one was injured as the truck driver jumped out before the vehicle overturned. As oil spilled on the road, two-wheeler riders faced difficulty in negotiating the slippery road conditions.
