In recognition of its efforts in promoting voluntary blood donation, Chandigarh has been awarded the top position among all UTs by the Blood Transfusion Services, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The prestigious award was presented during a ceremony held on the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day in Jaipur.

The State Blood Transfusion Council Chandigarh was honoured for its remarkable performance in 2023-24. The award was received by the project Director of Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society and Member Secretary, State Blood Transfusion Council, Chandigarh.

Meanwhile, the UT Administration organised a mass pledge ceremony at the UT Secretariat. Around 250 officials from various departments came together to take part in this event, led by UT Home Secretary Mandeep Singh Brar.
