City shuttler Rihan Phutella has clinched a silver medal in the doubles event at the Yonex Sunrise Bangladesh Junior International Series Tournament, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He along with his partner Sachin Jhanjaria ousted many strong pairs in intense grapples that lasted more than an hour each.

In the final match, Phutella and Jhanjaria gave a tough fight to Indonesian duo Mohammad Vito Anafasa and Grendly Alkativ. However, after a fierce battle, Phutella and Jhanjaria faced 16-21 12-21 defeat. In semifinals, Phutella and Jhanjaria faced Khoihnam Himangshu and Bishal Sharma and registered a 21-15 21-13 win.

Phutella credited his mentor and coach Vivek Sharma, who has been training him for the past 10 years, for his success.

Secretary of Badminton Association of India and Chandigarh Badminton Association Surinder Mahajan congratulated Phutella and appreciated his efforts. Mahajan also extended congratulations to coach Vivek Sharma.
