Chandigarh Lok Sabha Seat: Pawan Kumar Bansal, Manish Tewari, HS Lucky shortlisted for ticket
Chandigarh, February 24
Three names — former Union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari and city Congress president HS Lucky — have been shortlisted for the Congress ticket from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat.
Confirming this, Lucky said, “The Congress Pradesh Committee has shortlisted these names. Now, the Congress Working Committee will take a final call.”
Apart from Bansal and Lucky, City Youth Congress president Manoj Lubana and former Youth Congress president Harmail Kesari procured forms to apply for ticket. Tewari has not officially taken the form from the city party unit yet. “The party high command has included his name,” said a party leader.
Four-time MP Bansal was again picked as the Congress candidate for the Chandigarh LS seat in 2014 and 2019 but lost to BJP’s Kirron Kher both times. He entered the Lok Sabha for the first time by winning the Chandigarh seat on the Congress ticket in 1991. He was also elected to the Lok Sabha from here in 1999, 2004 and 2009. Tewari has also been interested in contesting the LS polls from Chandigarh.
