Chandigarh civic body finance panel gives nod to Chrysanthemum Show

The Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Municipal Corporation (MC) has accorded approval to the celebration of 37th Chrysanthemum Show-2024.

The show is likely to be held at Terraced Garden in Sector 33 in the second or third week of December. Various competitions will be held and winners will awarded prizes. The event will cost the civic body an estimated Rs 24.22 lakh.

The meeting of the F&CC was held today under the chairmanship of Mayor Kuldeep Kumar. MC Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh and other members of the committee, namely Jaswinder Kaur, Maheshinder Singh Siddhu, Lakhbir Singh and Taruna Mehta, and senior officials of the civic body were present.

Various agenda items were discussed in detail and approval was accorded to laying RCC pipeline from house number 3001 to the tail end at Patiala Ki Rao for smooth disposal of storm water during heavy rainfall in Maloya Colony. A sum of Rs 41.39 lakh was approved for the work.

The committee also accorded approval for repairing/construction of road gullies and replacing of choked storm water drainage lines at various places before providing and fixing of interlocking paver blocks on internal road at Mauli Complex at an estimated cost of Rs 16.14 lakh.

The committee also okayed upgradation of Sector 7 inner market at an estimated cost of Rs 48.06 lakh, augmentation of street light in Industrial Area, Phase 1, for an estimated Rs 35.83 lakh and upgradation of Sector 8 inner market at an estimated cost of Rs 37.70 lakh.
