Chandigarh Carnival gets underway
The Chandigarh Carnival-2024 was today inaugurated by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria in the presence of Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, UT Adviser Rajeev Verma and Tourism Secretary Hargunjit Kaur, along with other officials of the Administration. The Tribune is the media partner of the event.
The Administrator flagged off the carnival parade that showcased floats created by Chandigarh Arts College students. Immersed in the festive spirit, he explored vibrant exhibition stalls while interacting with artists from various cities.
Government departments displayed schemes of the Government of India in their exhibition stalls, products from various government societies of the UT and initiatives promoting traffic awareness. This unique blend of cultural festivities and informative displays underscored the carnival’s commitment to offering a diverse experience for attendees. The carnival also showcased painting sessions. The netizens can savour delicacies of different regions at the food stalls and take an adventurous trip at an amusement park.
For the first time, the Chandigarh Carnival has brought together persons with disabilities, their families, caregivers, civil society organisations, policymakers and the people of Chandigarh. Other highlights of the carnival this time are new characters like ‘Alladin’ and ‘gin’. Also hop on, hop off bus is offering free rides to everyone for three days during the carnival.
The evening promises a scintillating live performance by renowned singer Satinder Sartaj, followed by singer Mohammad Irfan on October 27.
