Chamba prepares up for Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas

A district-level meeting was held to discuss the organisation of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on November 15, marking the celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

The meeting was presided over by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Amit Mehra, and was attended by officials from various departments, who reviewed plans for the event.

Mehra said a series of activities, including informational sessions on government schemes, a health camp, cultural performances and exhibitions will be held to mark the occasion.

He directed all departmental officials to ensure the event’s smooth execution.

He said celebrations would extend across the district from November 15 to November 26. Special Gram Sabha meetings would also be held on November 15 in selected villages to approve agendas related to the development blocks of Chamba.

The celebrations would include programmes centred on the lives, achievements and legacy of Birsa Munda and other tribal icons, the ADM added.

As part of the Prime Minister’s Tribal Advancement Village Campaign, 156 villages have been selected in the district to promote social, educational and economic upliftment among tribal families.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner PP Singh, District Revenue Officer Jagdish Chand, District Language Officer Tukesh Sharma, economist Vikas Vinod Kumar, District AYUSH Officer Dr Rajendra Singh Thakur, District Coordinator Manohar Nath, and District Programme Officer Dr Harit Puri.
