‘Chamba-Achamba’ photo contest to promote Chamba
The Chamba district administration, in collaboration with the state Tourism Department, announced the ‘Chamba-Achamba’ photo contest on Saturday. Talking about the contest, District Tourism Development Officer Rajeev Mishra said it was being held under the ‘Chalo Chamba’ campaign, and aimed to promote the lesser-known tourist spots of the district.
The competition will focus on two themes — the lifestyle of Chamba people, and its natural landscapes. Participants can submit their entries either in the photograph or the short film category.
All citizens are eligible to participate, and entries must be submitted via email by December 15.
Mishra said the contest’s main objective was to showcase Chamba’s rich cultural heritage, glorious history, world-famous handicrafts, fairs, festivals, tribal lifestyle, traditional attire, natural beauty, valleys, rivers, lakes, peaks and its valuable wildlife through photographs and short films.
The initiative aims to enhance tourism-related activities at the local level.
Additionally, the contest is designed to foster an interest for tourism as a business among the youth of the district. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top participants in both categories. The first prize carries a cash reward of Rs 15,000, second prize of Rs 10,000, third prize of Rs 5,000, and two consolation prizes of Rs 2,500 each.
Participants can send their entries to chamba.achambhaphotocontest@gmail.com.
Further guidelines and details about the contest are available at the office of the District Tourism Development Officer and on the district administration’s official website, hpchamba.nic.in.
