Centre denied Punjab Rs 1,500 per acre for stubble management: CM
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today lashed out at the Central government for its “failure” to help Punjab in managing paddy stubble.
Campaigning in Sanghera and Dhanaula villages of the Barnala Assembly constituency in support of AAP candidate Harinder Singh Dhaliwal, the CM said, “We are doing everything we can do to tackle farm fires, but the Centre is not helping us. It refused to give Rs 1,500 per acre to Punjab for paddy stubble management, saying that it had no money to give Punjab for this purpose.”
“People from Pakistan’s Punjab are saying that smoke from our state is polluting the air in their country while some others are saying that smoke from Punjab was reaching Delhi. It cannot be true that the entire smoke was caused in our state,” he said.
