A delegation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal is participating in the 15th session of the Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress (ITHC) at University of Wolverhampton, England, from October 2 to 6.

The theme of this year’s session is “Transformation in Tourism and Hospitality Business: Adoption of Technology and Sustainability”.

The VC, in a release issued here today, said meaningful discussions would be held on various dimensions of tourism and hospitality business and the aspects of technology and sustainability in tourism would be discussed during the conference. He said the tourism and hospitality industry was going through a profound transformation driven by the twin forces of technological innovation and the imperative of sustainability. The development was reshaping the landscape of travel, accommodation and services, necessitating a rethinking of traditional business models and practices, he added.

“Adopting these changes was not just a choice but a necessity to remain competitive and relevant in the rapidly evolving market. That is why this topic has been raised strongly in the 15th session of the Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress,” he said. The VC said the transformation of tourism and hospitality industry through technology and sustainability was a multi-faceted process that required a holistic approach. “By leveraging technological advancements and committing to sustainable practices, businesses will not only enhance their operational efficiency and customer satisfaction but also contribute to the conservation of our planet,” he said.

Prof Bansal who is also the national president of the Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress said the CUHP signed an MoU with Wolverhampton University, England, in the Vice-Chancellors’ Apex Committee meeting held today. The MoU would benefit many students, researchers and teachers of CUHP and Wolverhampton University.

Topics like innovation in sustainable tourism practices, technology-driven innovation in hospitality management, policy framework and vision of sustainable tourism development will be discussed and debated in the conference, the VC said.
