Cattle smuggler killed, six injured while evading police
A cattle smuggler was killed and six others were injured when their vehicle, loaded with cows, overturned while they were attempting to flee from the police by driving at high speed in the wrong direction. The incident, which occurred near Pachgaon Chowk around 3.30 am on Thursday, led to an FIR being filed at the Manesar police station.
According to a police spokesperson, the injured have been admitted to a hospital, and the body of the deceased will be handed over to his family after a postmortem.
The incident took place when a patrolling team from the cow protection cell spotted several individuals loading cows into a pickup truck near the Manesar bus stand. Upon noticing the police, the suspects sped towards the Pachgaon-Bilaspur road. Although the vehicle initially gained distance, a traffic jam at Pachgaon Chowk allowed the police to catch up. In an attempt to evade the police, the driver accelerated and tried to cross the road divider by driving in the wrong direction, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Six smugglers were arrested from the scene, while one was found dead, trapped beneath the overturned vehicle. Four cows, brutally crammed into the vehicle, were rescued by the police.
The deceased was identified as Sahzad, a resident of Salaheri village in Nuh district. The six arrested include Munna from Akeda village, Mubarik, alias Utawaria, and Mafiq Ali from Sudaka village, Shaukeen from Salaheri village, Irsad, alias Langda, from Rehna village in Nuh district, and Salam from Jawahar village in Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh.
A police spokesperson revealed that Sahzad had two criminal cases, including attempted murder and cattle smuggling, registered against him in Gurugram and three additional cases in Nuh. Shaukeen faces 18 charges, including attempted murder, cattle smuggling, POCSO violations and theft, across Rewari, Nuh, Gurugram and Rohtak districts, and has been declared a proclaimed offender. Irsad has three cases against him for cattle smuggling, assault and threats in Gurugram and Nuh districts. One case each is registered against Mafiq Ali and Mubarik in Nuh.
“After registering the FIR, all five suspects have been taken into custody, and we are currently questioning them,” stated the Gurugram police spokesperson.
