According to sources, the Gang Canal, which originates from Punjab, not only carried contaminated and polluted water but also saw the frequent presence of dead animal carcasses floating in large numbers.

A member of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti said a large number of dead goats, hens and fishes could be seen floating on water, by observing on a bridge, located near the main branch of the Gang canal in Sriganganagar. Many people made videos and uploaded them on social media.

BJP leader Rajat Swami said the videos were sent to the district collector and the superintending engineer of the water resources department. He added that along with the dead animals, the water of the canal also emitted a foul smell.
