Northern Army Commander Lt Gen YK Joshi on Wednesday flew over ‘Batra top’ in Sukhoi 30MKI to pay homage to Captain Vikram Batra.

He had led the charge of his troops of the 13th battalion of the ‘JAKRIF’ Regiment of the Indian Army.

Lt Gen Joshi—then a Colonel was commanding the Battalion—was awarded a Vir Chakra.

Capt Batra had sent a signal ‘Dil Maange More’ during the capture of Pt 5140 that had made him a youth icon.

He was killed in action while capturing Pt 4875, now christened as Batra Top.
