Participating virtually in the national committee meeting convened by the PM to finalise plans for the celebrations, the CM said, “I urge PM Modi to ensure the event is commemorated not only at the national, but also at the global level.”

Need to document Sikh spirit of service

We must research how Sikhs are following the path of service, how gurdwaras have become the living examples of public service. We must document this spirit. —Narendra Modi, PM

He said the proposal included projects in and around Anandpur Sahib, Amritsar and Baba Bakala; rejuvenation of ponds in 78 Punjab villages visited by the Guru; setting up Sri Guru Teg Bahadur School of Textile Technology and Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Institute of Handicrafts. Besides Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, ex-PM Manmohan Singh, Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and LoP Mallikarjun Kharge participated in the meeting. — TNS
