BJP leader and former CM Capt Amarinder Singh came out of hibernation on Friday and visited the Khanna grain market.

Amarinder has not attended public events for more than two years and did not even participate in the Lok Sabha poll campaign, which saw his wife Preneet Kaur contest from Patiala.

His media staff announced he would be visiting the Khanna market to take stock of the chaos at the mandi due to non-lifting of the paddy produce.

During Capt Amarinder Singh's tenure as the Punjab CM when he was with the Congress from 2017 to November 2021, the state witnessed smooth paddy procurement despite rival BJP party at the Centre.

The incumbent AAP government is having a serious face-off with the BJP over non-lifting of the paddy due to issues with rice millers.

Interestingly, Capt Amarinder has resurfaced within days of the BJP making state party president Sunil Jakhar as the poster boy for the Punjab bypolls.
