Candidates intensify campaigning across Yamunanagar

Hold public meetings, open election offices, try roping in leaders into their parties

As soon as the date for filing nominations ended on September 12, the candidates started extensive campaigning to woo voters in their respective constituencies of the district.

All candidates, who have filed their nomination on party symbols and as the Independents, are currently focusing on holding small public meetings at village level in rural areas and colony level in urban areas.

Additionally, they have also begun opening election offices and making efforts to get leaders of other political parties on their side.

Akram Khan, former MLA and Congress candidate from Jagadhri Assembly constituency, today held public meetings at several villages, including Daulatpur, Kansali and Baghpat.

He said several important political leaders, including former chairman of the marketing society, Jagadhri, Mangat Ram of Bhilpura-Shahjahanpur village; former chairman of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), Khairati Lal Telipura; district president of BJP minority cell, Mohammad Haroon; and advocate Bajrang Singh joined the Congress.

Meanwhile, sitting MLA and BJP candidate from Jagadhri constituency, also held public meetings at several villages, including Bahadarpur, Chandpur Majri and Dalmirgarh.

Besides holding several public meetings, AAP candidate from Jagadhri, Adarsh Pal Singh, met his supporters in his office.

Raman Tyagi, Congress candidate from Yamunanagar Assembly constituency, inaugurated two election offices – one near the INTUC Hall and the other in Azadnagar.

“Rampur Ka Majra village sarpanch Ankush and some other persons joined the Congress in Yamunanagar today. I also held meetings with a Brahmin organisation and a traders’ organisation, members of which extended their support to the party,” stated Tyagi.

Sitting MLA and Congress candidate from Sadhaura Assembly constituency Renu Bala today inaugurated election offices in Sadhaura and Bilaspur towns. She also held public meetings at Bhilchhappar, Ramgarh Majra, Fatehgarh Tumbi, Marwa Kalan, Fakir Majra and Munda Khera villages.

BSP leader Brijpal Chhappar, who is contesting as the joint candidate of the INLD-BSP alliance from Sadhaura Assembly segment, said after filing his nomination, he has started campaigning on a war footing.

He said that he held public meetings in Sunderpur, Bahadarpur, Nagla, Jaitpur, Madhipur and Salempur villages today. He further claimed that he was getting a good response and people were connecting with him in large numbers.

Several other leaders, including sitting MLA and BJP candidate from Sadhaura Balwant Singh; BSP candidate from Jagadhri Darshan Lal Khera, BJP candidate from Yamunanagar Ghanshyam Dass Arora, former MLA and INLD-BSP alliance candidate from Yamunanagar Dilbag Singh, sitting MLA and Congress candidate from Radaur Bishan Lal Saini and former MLA and BJP candidate from Radaur Shyam Singh Rana also started campaigning in their respective constituencies.
