Candidates contesting from Sirsa dist wealthy, yet in debt
Despite being millionaires, several candidates who will be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections in Sirsa’s five constituencies are under substantial debt. Many of these candidates, especially from the Chautala family, possess luxury items and firearms as part of their declared assets.
Abhay Singh Chautala, a key INLD leader from Ellenabad, possesses assets worth Rs 45.66 crore, with Rs 32.96 crore-worth movable assets. He also has significant debts, including loans amounting to Rs 90 lakh and an income tax liability of Rs 8 crore. He owns three vehicles and a firearm valued at 3.25 lakh.
Aditya Chautala, INLD candidate from Dabwali, holds movable assets worth Rs 1.09 crore, including cash, bank accounts, gold and investments. His wife also holds assets worth Rs 1.02 crore. Additionally, Aditya has immovable property valued at Rs 22.04 crore, much of which he inherited. Both Aditya and his mother have a car loan of Rs 4.87 lakh.
Congress candidate Amit Sihag, also a member of Chautala family from Dabwali, declared immovable assets worth Rs 29.51 crore. These includes properties in Gurgaon, Mohali and Sirsa. He owns 16 bighas of land in Gurgaon, worth Rs 10 crore, and a 200-yard plot in Mohali valued at Rs 50 lakh. He also holds investments in shares and mutual funds, along with a loan of Rs 62.21 lakh. Amit owns a licensed .32 bore revolver.
JJP candidate from Dabwali Digvijay Chautala declared assets worth Rs 32.04 crore in movable property and 22.52 crore in immovable assets. He also owes loans to 14 individuals, including family members like his father Ajay Singh and brother Dushyant Chautala.
Arjun Chautala son of Abhay Chautala and INLD candidate from Rania, declared Rs 25.37 crore in assets, while his wife Jasmine has assets worth Rs 10.58 crore. Both have invested in shares, bonds, and fixed deposits. Arjun owns a Hummer car worth Rs 25 lakh, which was gifted by his father Abhay Chautala, and both Arjun and his wife hold firearms.
Meanwhile, Independent candidate Ranjit Chautala from Rania revealed his passion for livestock as he owns cows and buffaloes worth Rs 3.5 lakh. He holds firearms, including .12 bore and .38 bore guns and has declared movable assets of Rs 1.01 crore.
