Amritsar: Students of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar, secured the 4th position out of 700 teams at the nationals of the prestigious World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2024 held at Science City, Ahmedabad, on October 6-7, 2024. The event witnessed a fierce competition among teams from renowned schools from across the country. Ashramites demonstrated exceptional robotics skills. Class XI (non-medical) Ansh Kumar (Researcher), Class XII (non-medical) Ansh Dadwal (Programmer & Robot Maker), Class XII (non-medical) Krish Kashyap (Architect) under the guidance of Sarita Sharma (HoD) and Devendra Singh (Technical Head) participated in the competition. Their innovative project, Glacial ‘Aquatic Pre-drainage System’ showcased exceptional design and programming expertise, earning them the coveted 4th position. Congratulating the students, Dr Vinodita Sankhyan, Principal, said their achievements inspires the school community.

Zonal Youth Festival concludes

Amritsar: The Zonal Youth Festival of Education Colleges of Guru Nanak Dev University concluded at Dashmesh Auditorium of the university. Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar, emerged the overall champions, Khalsa College of Education, GT Road, Amritsar, first runners-up and Government College of Education, Jalandhar, second runners-up. Prof Amit Kauts, Head, Department of Education, was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Amandeep Singh, in-charge, Youth Welfare, said the competitions included costume parade, mimicry, skit, geet/ghazal & folk song, painting on the spot, sketching & poster-making, collage, clay modelling, slogan writing & cartooning, poetical symposium, elocution & debate, group shabad bhajan, group song Indian & giddha, rangoli, phulkari, mehndi & painting still life, quiz & preliminary & final were organised during the festival.

Spring Dale basketball team wins

Amritsar: Spring Daleans celebrated the thrilling victory of their school’s basketball team in the final matches during the CBSE Cluster Tournament in the categories (Boys u-17 and u-19. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, briefed that his school’s basketball team will play the national-level tournament after being adjudged the winner of the CBSE Cluster Tournament held in Ludhiana. School Principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma credited this remarkable achievement to the persistent effort and training of the team. He encouraged his boys to give their best performance during the national-level tournament.

NCC Group commander visits schools

Amritsar: Brig KS Bawa, Cdr, NCC Group, Amritsar, on Friday visited two border schools where he interacted with NCC cadets of senior and junior divisions. The visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the NCC framework in border areas so as to significantly improve the standards of NCC cadets enabling them to exploit all opportunities as available to his/her urban counterparts. The schools visited by Brig KS Bawa were Government Senior Secondary School, Darongla, under NCC cover of 7 Punjab NCC Bn and Shabzada Zorawar Singh Fateh Singh School, Kalanaur, under NCC cover of 22 Punjab NCC Bn, Batala. He also felicitated Pratham Pathania, ex-NCC cadet of AB College, who is now commissioned Sub-Inspector of Punjab Police. He encouraged the cadets to dream big and focus on their realisation.

Chheharta SoE teachers felicitated

Amritsar: Teachers of School of Eminence (SoE), Chheharta, were honoured by District Education Officer Harbhagwant Singh and Sub-District Education Officer Rajesh Khanna at the Teacher Appreciation Ceremony organised by the office of District Education Office (Secondary Education), Amritsar. Among other teachers, lecturers Sukhpal Singh Sandhu, Om Parkash and Kulwinder Singh Malli were honoured. In his address, District Education Officer Harbhagwant Singh (Secondary Education), Amritsar, said there are many teachers in the district, who work very hard in their profession, but they have never been honoured at the district level. This is an initiative by the Office of the District Education (Secondary Education), Amritsar, in collaboration with Dawesar Education Group. The event was held at Delhi Public School, Manawala. tns
