Campus notes: Women organise skill fair
BBK DAV College for Women hosted a skill fair in collaboration with the National EduTrust of India, which is registered under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The fair aimed to encourage students to develop and showcase their entrepreneurial skills. Parminder Kaur Bains, Chief Judicial Magistrate, District Courts, Amritsar, was the chief guest at the event and Supreet Kaur, Additional Civil Judge, District Courts, Amritsar, was the guest of honour. Around 70 stalls were set up at the fair to encourage creativity and entrepreneurship among students. Approximately 150 students participated, displaying a wide range of talents through textile designs, including tie and dye, block and screen printing, upholstery, jute bags, murals, henna art, nail art and apparel accessories, among others.
Inter-zonal youth fest begins today
Amritsar: The Inter-Zonal Youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University would take place from November 8 to 10. Prof Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean of Student Welfare, said over 1,000 student artists from 43 colleges affiliated with the university would compete in 36 events during the festival. The festival would be held across various venues on the university campus, including Dasmesh Auditorium, Guru Nanak Bhavan Auditorium, Conference Hall and the Architecture Department.
Kirtan singing competition
Amritsar: The Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) Dharam Prachar Committee organised an inter-school Kirtan competition at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School. A total of 33 teams from CKD schools participated, performing Kirtan based on the hymns of Sri Guru Ramdas in the prescribed ragas and using traditional stringed instruments. Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, the president of CKD said the purpose of the competition was to connect children with their cultural and religious heritage through music and tradition. TNS
