Ludhiana: The Legal Aid Clinic, University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre, organised a visit to the Mediation Centre, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana. The visit focused on the practical aspects of alternative dispute resolution system, particularly highlighting the process of mediation, how it assists in resolving the disputes amicably and peacefully. Students had the opportunity of interacting with the mediators, who guided them about the psychological and sociological approach to mediation, while also throwing light upon various recent amendments in the Commercial Courts Act, 2015.

Fabric painting workshop

Malwa Central College of Education, Ludhiana, organised a fabric painting workshop on October 24 under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr Tripta. It was led by Kulwant Seehra, artist at Sahir Arts. The event introduced participants to basic fabric painting techniques, including brush painting, stenciling and block printing. The workshop aimed to foster creativity and artistic skills among students, with a focus on eco-friendly practices. It provided a platform for creativity and skill-building, aligned with the college’s commitment to fostering holistic education. Associate Professor Dr Nerotma Sharma thanked the resource person and Dr Satwant Kaur, principal of the college, lauded the staff’s efforts.

lecture on eco-friendly Diwali

Eco-club of BCM College of Education organised an extension lecture on eco-friendly Diwali to sensitise the students to adopt sustainable choices and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and healthier planet. Anju Bala, Community Facilitator, Health Department, Ludhiana, an environmentalist and a social activist, addressed the students and acquainted them with eco-friendly practices for waste management using methods like banning plastics, segregation of waste and vermi-composting.

Hindi story-writing competition

Nankana Sahib Public School’s Ajay Dhiman, a student of Grade 8, secured third place in the Vagmita Hindi Story Writing Competition, held at Delhi Public School, Ludhiana. The event saw participation from 14 schools, with contestants writing stories on an on-the-spot topic. Ajay’s creativity and storytelling earned him recognition. School principal Harmeet Kaur Waraich congratulated Ajay and said, “This achievement is a testament to the talent and dedication of our students. We encourage all our learners to continue striving for excellence and express themselves creatively.”

Trip to Wonderland

An exciting trip to Wonderland was organised by Arya College Girls Section in which around 104 students enthusiastically embarked on a mission to refresh their minds. The students enjoyed at the water park, rides and DJ party. Dr SM Sharma, Secretary, ACMC, appreciated the endeavour of the college for organising such fun-filled tour for students. Principal Dr Suksham Ahluwalia stated that such excursions refresh students and add to their personality. In-charge Dr Mamta Kohli said such efforts to groom students beyond classroom learning will continue in future too.

Roller Skating Championship

The young DCM entrepreneurs have excelled at the 36th Punjab Roller Skating Championships, held at Leisure Valley. Dishti Gupta, a grade 4 student, demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, winning a silver medal in solo dance, a silver medal in pair performance (Artistic) and a bronze medal in group performance (Artistic). Meanwhile, the youngest participant, three-year-old Saatvik Taneja, made his mark by securing a gold medal in the Special Under-5 category (Artistic).

Spring Bells lift handball trophy

The handball team of Spring Bells School dominated the Sahodia Sports Competition. Led by Captain Harshita and Vice-Captain Kanika, the school's U-17 girls team defeated GHG Academy, Khandoor, by 12-1 in the semi-finals. In the final match, they defeated Peace Public School 5-1, to lift the trophy. The winning team comprised of Yashnoor (Class V), Rani (Class VII), Shubhra (Class VII), Mayura (Class VIII), Janvi (Class VIII), Sneha (Class VIII), Simran (Class VIII), Khushi (Class IX), Kajal (Class IX), Shivani (Class IX), Kanika (Class IX), Harshita (Class IX) and Sakshi (Class IX).
