Campus Notes: Training workshop at agri varsity
Hisar: A seven-day farmers’ training programme on ‘Planned Agriculture Development Centre’ was organised by the Horticulture Department at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. The training programme was funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India and sponsored by NCPAH. Director of Research SK Pahuja said 30 farmers, including women farmers participated in the training, organised to give the latest technical information related to the agriculture sector to the farmers. During the training, farmers were trained on latest topics such as automation systems, use of drones in agriculture, drip irrigation, vertical farming, digital agriculture, production of fruits and vegetables in poly house, their post-harvest management, aquaponics and vegetable grafting. The participants were provided certificates and horticulture equipment kits after the programme.
Vigyan fest starts at Mahendragarh varsity
Mahendragarh: Kosambi Vigyan Mahotsav commenced at Central University of Haryana (CUH) on Friday. Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar emphasised the importance of traditional knowledge and the significant contributions of Indian scientists to the field. He stressed the role of interdisciplinary research in comprehending the complexities of the world and discussed how scientific approaches could be applied to interpret historical events, citing examples from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences (SIAS) and convener of the programme, shared his experiences with multidisciplinary approaches across various fields, including library science. Gupta elaborated the contributions made by Kosambi to Indian history, mathematics, statistics, and genetics.
Yamunanagar college students top exams
Yamunanagar: Students of the 2022-24 batch of Chemistry Department at Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar, secured top positions in the fourth semester examination held by Kurukshetra University in May. Students of the department scored six positions in the top-ten. Kajal topped the university by securing 91.5 per cent, followed by Sneha Pandey at the second spot with 87.12 per cent, Meenakshi secured the fourth position with 84.24 per cent, Tushar got the seventh position with 82.87 per cent, Gayatri got the eighth position with 81.51per cent and Chirag got the ninth position with 81.36per cent. Principal Anil Dhawan congratulated the students, their parents, head of department and others in the department on the achievement.
