Campus notes: Training to be held at agri varsity
Hisar: Saina Nehwal Agricultural Technology, Training and Education Institute of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) will organise a three-day training programme on protected farming from July 23 to 25 and on beekeeping from July 24 to 26. Training co-director Ashok Kumar Godara said interested persons of any age and class could participate in the training. He said the trainees would give information about growing vegetables in poly-houses/net houses. Information on many important aspects of beekeeping would also be given during the training. He said people who were desirous of taking part in the training could register themselves at the institute at 7.30 am on the first day of the programme. This training was free, he said. Only those candidates who take part in the training on all three days would be given certificates by the university, he said.
12 NCC cadets pass C-certificate exam
Sonepat: Twelve National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, would now be able to give a direct interview for Indian Army, Navy and Air Force as they have passed the C-certificate examination of the NCC. Smriti Sangwan was the NCC topper of the university with 399 marks. Vice-Chancellor Shri Prakash Singh wished all the cadets the best. University NCC Director Lt Pradeep Singh said 12 cadets — 5 girls and 7 boys — appeared for the examination. The passing percentage of girls in Alpha grading was 100 per cent, while the pass percentage of boys in Alpha grading was 80 per cent. Dr Singh said cadets with C-certificate of NCC were not required to appear for written examination for the armed forces. Now these students would be eligible to give SSB directly.
First ‘Miyawaki forest’ of dist at CUH
Mahendragarh: Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, and Arsh Verma, Superintendent of Police, Mahendergarh, inaugurated the first ‘Miyawaki forest’ of the district on campus. On this occasion, the VC praised the District Forest Department for choosing the university for the project and said this was the first Miyawaki forest established in any university of the state. Prof Kumar said in future more Miyawaki forests would be developed on small plots in the campus. He said the project would also promote environmental conservation. The Vice-Chancellor urged everyone to plant trees and look after them. Explaining the need for sustainable development, he said everybody must avoid plastics to conserve the environment and water. On this occasion, Prof Sushma Yadav appreciated the efforts being made by the district administration for environmental conservation. Congratulating the winners of the competition organised under the campaign ‘Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam’, she said that collective efforts by all were necessary to make the earth green. A Miyawaki forest had been planted in 2.47 acres of land on the university campus. In this, 37 types of 10,000 different plants, including amla, neem, drumstick, peepal, jacaranda, papadi, sheesham, siras and jamun were planted.
Admissions begin at Rai varsity
Sonepat: The Sports University of Haryana, Rai, Sonepat has started its admission process for various academic programmes. The closing date for admissions into PG diploma programmes in sports coaching and other disciplines was also extended up to July 30, and forms can be procured on the university’s official website (www.suoh.ac.in). The PG diploma programmes have received a high number of applications (300) due to the university’s recognition by UGC and AIU as well as the equivalency of the PG diploma in sports coaching.
Varsity offers IELTS, English courses
Sonepat: Learning Resource Centre (LRC) of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya is offering two programmes with the aim of improving linguistic and communication skills of its employees and students. Vice-Chancellor Sudesh said linguistic and communication skills had special importance in every sphere of life. She said the BPSMV administration was committed to capacity building and skill development of its stakeholders. LRC head Ravi Bhushan said the centre was offering IELTS preparatory course and English language proficiency course. The duration of the IELTS preparatory course would be 60 hours, while for the English language proficiency course would be 30 hours. Interested employees and students could apply in the prescribed format to LRC. The classes would commence from July 22. The enrolled candidates will be given the completion certificate on successful completion of the programme.
