Amritsar: Sidharth Jogi, young musical prodigy of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, emerged victorious, bagging the first position in the Instrumental category at DD Punjabi’s prestigious talent show, Kis Mein Hai Kitna Dam, held on October 3. His mesmerising flute performance left a lasting impression on the judges and audience, elevating him to the top spot among a multitude of talented participants from across the region. In recognition of his remarkable achievement, Sidharth was awarded a prestigious trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 3,100. President of the school Balbir Bajaj and Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan congratulated Sidharth on his extraordinary accomplishment. They lauded his dedication and extended their heartfelt appreciation to his mentor for nurturing his talent. They wished him success on his musical journey.

Kala Shatak Utsav concludes

Amritsar: Bhavans SL Public School hosted their 100th cultural programme, ‘Kala Shatak Utsav’, on the premises of the school. MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla was the chief guest and senior artistes from the city, including Indu Bala Sehgal, Ramesh Bhagat, Richa Juneja, Harinder Dhawan, and several others, performed. Student artistes of Bhavans SL Public School also performed. Aujla appreciated the singers and expressed his gratitude to chairman Avinash Mohindroo and director Dr Anita Bhalla and other members for organising such a function in the school.

Nagar Kirtan on Oct 18

Amritsar: Chief Khalsa Diwan office-bearers and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee will organise Gurmat events to mark the Gurpurb of Sri Guru Ramdas. A mega nagar kirtan is being hosted on October 18 and shabad and kirtan events will be hosted on October 19, the auspicious day of Gurpurb. CKD president Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar said all the Chief Khalsa Diwan institutions will be illuminated with colourful lights by the Diwan and on October 18, the town will be decorated by the SGPC for Gurpurb kirtan. A grand welcome will be given to the nagar kirtan on arrival at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Bhagatanwala.

Insight on sustainable farming

Amritsar: Farmers from across the Majha belt participated, sharing insights on adopting crop diversification and zero stubble burning techniques aimed at combating air pollution and promoting sustainable farming practices in the region during the convention on Sustainable Agriculture and Stubble-Free Farming held by the Air Care Centre at Khalsa College for Women. The event featured an award ceremony recognizing progressive farmers for their efforts in adopting environmentally responsible practices, particularly in managing crop residues without burning — a major source of air pollution in Punjab. Dr Raminder Hundal, Professor, KVK, Amritsar, an expert in sustainable agriculture, emphasized the importance of crop residue management. Dr Surinder Kaur, Principal of Khalsa College for Women, said, “Our Air Care Center reinforces our mission to foster a culture of environmental responsibility. Today’s event showcases the efforts of farmers, who are not only improving their fields but also contributing to a cleaner, healthier future for all of us.”

NASA Convention Concludes

Jalandhar: The 67th Zonal NASA Convention, hosted by CT Group, concluded after three days of intense activities, drawing over 1,200 architecture students from more than 50 schools from across North India. The event featured more than 50 competitions, two keynotes and two master classes, offering a platform for students to showcase their architectural creativity. Participants from institutions, such as Sushant School of Art and Architecture, Amity School of Architecture and Planning and Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), engaged in various workshops covering topics like parametric modelling and green planning. The keynote address by Charanjit Shah, known for his work on the Kartarpur Corridor, was a highlight of the event. The Interactive Art Pieces Trophy saw students create innovative designs from basic materials, while the Design-18 Challenge tested participants’ endurance with an 18-hour design marathon. Sushant School of Art and Architecture dominated the event, winning the overall trophy. Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women secured the journalism trophy, while several institutions, including Guru Nanak Dev University and Amity School of Architecture, received special mentions for their creative achievements.

Student shines in GDNU exams

Jalandhar: Tanisha Arora, a fourth-semester student of B.Voc Data Science at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, secured the first position in the final exams conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University by scoring 311/400 marks. Ekam secured the second position with 301 marks, while Aarush obtained the third position with 286 marks. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra congratulated all three students, encouraging them to continue their hard work and maintain their positions in the upcoming semesters as well. She appreciated the efforts of Meera Aggarwal, head, mathematics department, and Harpreet Kaur of the computer science department, for guiding and motivating these meritorious students. She encouraged them to keep mentoring students in the future so they can continue to achieve new heights.

Legacy Run

Jalandhar: MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a grand legacy run, organised in collaboration with the Old Montgomerians Association on Monday. The event, filled with energy and enthusiasm, brought together students, staff and guests to celebrate the school's rich history.
