Amritsar: Sun Valley Public High School today celebrated the Janmashtami festival. Students of UKG and Class I presented dance performances. A colourful ‘dahi handi’ event was held and students, dressed as Lord Krishna, attempted to break the traditional handi. Principal Sandeep Saini highlighted the importance of the festival.

Annual function at SRA

Amritsar: Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar, organised the annual function for the students of UKG and Class I on Saturday. Kewal Dhaliwal, Shiromani Natakkar awardee and theatre director, Rita Rajbir Singh, director of The Junior Study, and Rajbir Singh, an eye surgeon, were the chief guests. Students showcased their dancing skills, leaving the audience mesmerised. Their coordination, expressions, delivery and confidence left everyone in awe. The young students beautifully depicted how the excessive use of mobile phone affects the bond within families and creates tension in personal relationships that ultimately raise stress and anxiety among children. Dhaliwal lauded the efforts made by the students and staff members. He said physical activities were significant for children, but these were being replaced with the mobile phones. Principal Vinodita Sankhyan said the excessive use of smart phones affected the cognitive development of children.

Janmashtami celebraTIONS

Amritsar: Krishan Janmashtami was celebrated by Class III students of Ashok Vatika Public School. The students chanted bhajans of Lord Krishna, gave a dazzling dance performance, depicting Krishna’s life and enacted a play. The students also took part in painting activity. A special activity on mataki decoration was also organised for pre-wing students. Principal Anchal Mahajan emphasised the importance of taking right decisions in life and following the path shown by Lord Krishna.

Water Week at School of Eminence

Amritsar: World Water Week was celebrated by a team of the ‘Trust of People’ and NCC cadets at School of Eminence, Chhehrta. The purpose of this campaign was to create awareness among students about the importance of water. Various activities were organised in the school to make draw attention on the subject. The most special programme was a drawing competition, in which students created their own posters on the theme of water conservation. School principal Manmeet Kaur highlighted the importance of water conservation and encouraged the students to participate in the campaign on a large scale.

Revel Dale’s magazine released

Amritsar: The first issue of ‘Shubh Saver’, the biannual magazine of Revel Dale Public School, was released on Sunday. On the occasion, school principal Rajiv Arora said childhood was the first spell of human life and it was the most significant period of human life as the habits, choices, priorities and values formed during childhood stay with them till the last. The magazine is a tribute to the entire span of childhood that every student spends at the school in order to become physically strong, mentally alert, morally firm, spiritually enlightened and socially amiable. The students were told that the magazine encapsulates creative ideas of the students in the form of poems, paintings, stories and essays.

Business startup Competition

Amritsar: Students of DAV College, Amritsar, participated in a two-day business idea and startup competition, which was conducted by the Institution Innovation Council in association with the Post Graduate Department of Commerce. The students learned how to develop business ideas for new innovations and startups. Principal Amardeep Gupta said in this unique competition, students worked in teams and were guided by the teacher as their adviser. Together, they learned about teamwork, communication, risk, diversification, company and industry analysis, and many other important aspects of investing, the principal added. Poornima of BA (Sem I) secured the first position while Anshdeep Singh of BBA (Sem I) and Utkarsh of BCA (Sem I) received the second and third prizes, respectively.

Our Daughter Our Pride event held

Amritsar: At Revel Dale Public School, teachers having two daughters were honoured to mark a special event — Our Daughter Our Pride. School principal Rajiv Arora said the event was organised to celebrate daughters and encourage parents to support their education and upliftment. He exhorted all girl students of the school to prove their merit and mettle as students by striving hard. All students of the school felt motivated and inspired. They all looked determined to change the mindset of people of society.

Freshers’ Festival Aagaaz Held

Amritsar: Global Group of Institutes organised a two-day freshers’ festival, Aagaaz, to welcome new students joining various courses in the 2024 session on August 23 and 24. The event started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chairman of the institute, B S Chandi and vice-chairman Akashdeep Singh Chandi. The seniors welcomed their new friends by hosting an entertainment extravaganza. The new students interacted freely with their seniors who exhibited warmth towards their new friends. Fashion show and ramp walk were held to select Miss and Mr Fresher, and Mr Handsome and Miss Charming. Akashdeep Singh Chandi, vice-chairman of the Global Group of Institutes, congratulated the winners and applauded the participating students for their remarkable and entertaining presentations during the festival.
