Campus notes: State Public School celebrates diwali
The kindergarten block of State Public School celebrated Diwali, embracing the message of a safe and green Diwali. The classrooms and corridors were beautifully decorated with vibrant rangolis, hand-made lanterns and colourful streamers, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere. Teachers and students engaged in activities that emphasised celebrating responsibly, focusing on eco-friendly practices to protect the environment. Children learned about the significance of Diwali and the importance of safety during the festivities, encouraging a spirit of togetherness and mindfulness. Dr Narotam Singh, president of the Group of State Public Schools, Dr Gagandeep Kaur, vice-president, and Savina Bahl, principal, appreciated the efforts of the students.
Ivy World School
Jalandhar: Ivy World School celebrated Diwali by following all rituals and customs. Ivyians made beautiful rangolis, decorated diyas, created colourful torans and adorned their classrooms on this auspicious occasion. Director Aditi Vasal lauded the efforts made by the Ivyians. They emphasised the idea of celebrating such festivals in the school as they promote the development of cultural heritage and stimulate the feelings of oneness, cooperation, preservation of our own tradition and culture. The director-principal acknowledged the efforts of the students, parents and teachers. She also threw light on the importance of the day and mentioned that festivals fill our lives with colours and enthusiasm.
The Nobel School
Jalandhar: Diwali was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour in the premises of The Nobel School. Director Saroj Sharma, Principal Ravinder Kaur, along with staff members of the school and students organised the event to honour the festival of lights. The celebration began with the traditional Lakshmi Puja. Students showcased their creative skills by making beautiful rangoli, adding colours and joy to the festive atmosphere. Chairman of the school Professor CL Kochher and Managing Director Kumar Shiv Kochhar showered their love and blessings on each one present. The entire school was adorned with lights and decorations, making the environment vibrant, energetic, bright and full of life. Following the Puja, gifts were distributed to the staff members as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
Kamla Nehru College for Women
Phagwara: Kamla Nehru College of Education for Women celebrated Diwali with high spirit and enthusiasm. The campus was decorated beautifully with rangoli, flowers and colourful motifs. The celebration culminated with Lakshmi Puja performed by the principal, staff members and all the students. At the end, Dr Harvinder Kaur, principal of the college, lauded the efforts of Monika Rani, the convenor and the students for making the occasion a great success and motivated them to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali.
St Soldier Group of Institutions
Jalandhar: Students of St. Soldier Group of Institutions celebrated Diwali in Pingla Ghar. Group vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra, principal of St. Soldier Inter-College Manginder Singh, Group staff and students reached Pingla Ghar. The school students decorated Pingla Ghar with rangoli, flowers and lit diyas. The students made posters with a message that read, ‘Let’s breathe without smoke, avoid firecrackers, save nature, environment is friendly, it is our duty to save it’ and many more. The main reason for celebrating Diwali in Pingla Ghar was to inculcate the respect for this section of society among the students. On the occasion, Group vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra distributed blankets, fruits and sweets to the children, elders and women of Pingla Ghar. Chopra also lit lamps along with the children and wished everyone a very happy Diwali.
Innocent Hearts Group
Jalandhar: Innocent Hearts Schools (Green Model Town, Loharan, Noorpur Road, Cantt-Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road), Innocent Hearts College of Education, and Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions celebrated Diwali. Students from pre-school to college level participated in various activities, promoting eco-friendly and cultural expression. The events included candle and diya decoration, puja thali decoration, wall hanging craft, toran making, glass aromatic candle-making and rangoli-making. The class teachers emphasised on Diwali’s spiritual and social significance. The ‘Green Diwali’ theme promoted eco-friendly practices through creative competitions. The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education organised an ‘Anti-Cracker campaign’ in Loharan village, raising awareness about the harmful effects of firecrackers on human health and environment. Dr Palak Gupta Bowry, Director CSR, Innocent Hearts Group, emphasised on celebrating Diwali with responsibility towards society.
Diwali exhibition at Khalsa College
Amritsar: A two-day Diwali exhibition was held at Khalsa College. The exhibition was organised by the Fashion Designing Department of Khalsa College and concluded on October 30. Acting principal of the college, Dr AK Kahlon said the exhibition was based on the theme ‘The Enlightening Diaz-2024’. The students displayed their skills and presented different types of hand-made items. Different types of festive items prepared by the students, including lamps, sheets, Diwali accessories, saris, dupattas, cosmetic items, nail art, mehndi and rangoli were appreciated by chief guest Tejinder Kaur Chhina.
