Campus notes: Spring Dale wins INTACH Heritage Quiz
Spring Dale students won the INTACH National Heritage Quiz-2024 for the state of Punjab for the second consecutive time. The national champs were given a heroic welcome in the school premises by their mates and teachers. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, shared joyously that the school quiz team, based upon Mudit Tyal of Grade IX and Sargun Kaur Bhullar of Grade X, has created history while winning the title of national winners of the coveted INTACH National Heritage Quiz for two consecutive years. The school trounced teams from 1,500 schools all across the country during their journey to the national level and earlier at the regional level to emerge the national winner of the title. Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, congratulated the winning team and their mentor, Neeru Issar, while he proudly mentioned that during the recent past too, the school heritage quiz team had established its reputation at the national level by repeatedly winning prestigious competitions like CBSE Heritage Quiz-2023, INTACH Heritage Quiz-2023 and Bharat Ko Jano Quiz-2023.
BBK DAV principal honoured
Amritsar: Principal of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, Dr Pushpinder Walia, was honoured for outstanding leadership by the National EduTrust of India. During the Skill to Entrepreneurship Programme 2024-25, organised by the National EduTrust of India, Principal Dr Walia was given this award for exhibiting exemplary leadership. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia thanked Samarth Sharma, CEO, National EduTrust of India, for acknowledging her efforts and dedicated this achievement to the entire BBK family. She also added that BBK DAV College for Women always strives to foster an environment of innovation and sustainable development and will continue to do the same in future as well.
Prize Distribution Function
Amritsar: The Post-Graduate Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College, Amritsar, organised “Prize Distribution Function of Poster Competition”. The function was planned and executed under the supervision of Dr AK Kahlon, Officiating Principal. Event coordinator, Dr Ajay Sehgal, congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation. He stated that the competition provided students with an excellent platform to express their thoughts and also encouraged them to keep exploring such meaningful themes in their future endeavours. The certificates were distributed to 11 participants. The top three winners of the competition were Tanveer Kaur (1st ), Manpreet Kaur (2nd ) and Jasmeen Kaur (3rd ). The event was a great success, leaving a positive impact on all the participants.
KCVAS, Canada hospital sign MoU
Amritsar: Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brampton Georgetown Animal Hospital, a renowned private hospital in Brampton, Canada. The MoU was signed by Dr Harish Verma, Principal, KCVAS, and Dr Atul Pakhawala from Georgetown Animal Hospital as the signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr SK Nagpal, Managing Director, KCVAS and Dr PN Dwivedi. Dr Verma said this international partnership will bring numerous benefits including enhanced educational and research opportunities for students and faculty and they will gain access to advanced educational resources and knowledge across borders. “Shared expertise and knowledge will lead to the development of innovative solutions for common challenges in veterinary science and pet animals,” he said, adding that the collaboration will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application in veterinary care on a global scale, especially for companion animals. The MoU also strives towards joint educational programmes that may benefit faculty, students, pet owners and stakeholders from both sides.
Special children excel in Olympics
Amritsar: Eight kids from DAV Red Cross School for Special Children showcased outstanding performance in the North Zone Special Olympics. These games witnessed participation from approximately 1,200 special athletes representing 56 schools from Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The special athletes of DAV Red Cross School participated in events such as softball, running and long jump, bringing pride to their school. The athletes won 15 medals — 5 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals — making their school and parents proud. Karanjot of the school won two golds in both 50m and 25m race. Similarly, Harman Kaur won a gold medal in the 25m race, Karamjeet in the 50m race, and Harjoban in softball throw. Raghav Sehgal, Tejas Sharma and Harman of the school bagged four silver medals.
Annual Athletics Meet
Jalandhar: The two-day annual athletics meet started at MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar. Chief guest Vivek Kumar Modi (SDM, Adampur) inaugurated the event by hoisting the school flag and declaring the meet open. A march past by the four school Houses, NSS cadets and school band marked the beginning followed by heart-throbbing Zumba dance and bhangra performances by the students. He highlighted the importance of physical fitness and sports in life and encouraged the students to actively participate in sports as it not only helps to improve physical fitness, but also improves focus. Principal KS Randhawa, Sangeeta Bhatia (Academy coordinator-cum-Headmistress), Sukham (In-charge, Pre-primary Wing), Inderpreet Kaur (CBSE coordinator) and Satwinder Singh (Coordinator, Secondary Wing) extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and expressed gratitude for his presence.
