Campus Notes: Shri Ram Ashram Public School
Amritsar: Shri Ram Ashram Public School earned the national FAP ‘The Best School Award’, becoming the only CBSE school in Amritsar to achieve this honour. Principal Vinodita Sankhyan was given the ‘Academics Achievement Award’ by the Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab (FAP) National Awards-2024. The awards were presented during a ceremony held on November 17 at Chandigarh University. The award was conferred upon the school in recognition of its achievements in academics, sports, cultural activities and outstanding performance in CBSE results.
Khalsa College
Amritsar: Acclaimed five-day long annual literature festival of Khalsa College is all set for its opening on Thursday. The 9th festival-cum-book fair will exhibit books on diverse topics and subjects apart from literary talks, seminars, debates, panel discussions and Kavi Darbar. Punjabi department head Atam Singh Randhawa said there would be more than 150 book stalls, arriving from all over north India and nearly 150 writers, poets, thinkers and artists are participating in the event. He said every day cultural programme would be presented in the evening, in which giddha, bhangra, singing and folk dances would be the main attractions. There will be separate food stalls in this fair. On November 19, the festival will be inaugurated by Khalsa University Pro-Chancellor and KCGC honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh, along with VC Dr Mahal Singh, while president of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Chandigarh, Ashwini Chatley will be the special guest in the function. Renowned comedian and Punjabi film actor Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi will address the audience.
Guru Nanak Dev University
Amritsar: Rajinder Kumar, an ETT teacher from Government Primary Smart School, Bathinda, bagged the ‘Teacher of the Year’ award, winning Rs 1 lakh cash and citation during Annual Teacher of the Year Award-2023 ceremony held at Khalsa College of Education in collaboration with Khalsa Global Reach Foundation here on Monday. The second position was bagged by Rumani Ahuja, lecturer in mathematics, Government Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana. She got Rs 25,000 cash award and citation while Deepak Kumar, lecturer in physics, Government Senior Secondary School, Daroli Bhai, Moga, was awarded with the third position, with a Rs 15,000 cash prize. Khalsa University (KU) registrar Khushwinder Kumar said the education scenario changed with the implementation of the National Education Policy and the role of the teacher had become more challenging. He said there were numerous entries received for the award and the judges had tough times to identify the best teachers. The panel of judges finally decided on the best teachers.
Guru Nanak Dev University
Amritsar: Guru Nanak Dev University has announced the postponement of all annual and semester (theory) examinations initially set to take place on Wednesday. Prof Shalini Bahel, professor in-charge (examinations), said the exams would now be rescheduled for Sunday at their originally designated times and examination centers. Spring Dale Senior School
Amritsar: Spring Dale Senior School organised a two days’ personality development camp for the students, parents and grandparents of the Class IV. Giving information on the occasion, Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, shared that the camp witnessed an active participation of the students, their parents and grandparents in the team coordination activities, sports and fun games. While the day started with yoga and meditation, the students participated in an array of physical sports, races and competitions such as relay race, tug of war and obstacle race, etc. The parents participated in fun activities and coordination games like musical chair competition and sideways running whereas the grandparents enjoyed participating in backward walking. Jai Adesh Bir was adjudged the best athlete among boys and Rubani was selected the best athlete among the girls.
