Campus notes: Seminar on Time Management
Jalandhar: Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus organised a seminar on ‘Managing time effectively’. The guest speaker for the session was Dr Pallavi Khanna (Counselling Psychologist, NIT-Jalandhar). She focused on the fact that time management requires habituating oneself to a disciplined schedule. She said apart from studies, most students participate in various co-curricular activities and hobbies in their daily lives. She advised the students to avoid procrastination and adopt the habit of evolving by completing tasks within the allotted time. Nidhi Chopra (Dean, Student Welfare and Head, Department of IT) and Inderpal Singh (Dean, Research and Examination and Head of Department of Management) presented a vote of thanks.
Inter-House Volleyball Competition
State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised an inter-house volleyball competition. Students from classes V to XII participated in the competition. The final match was played between Sahibzada Zorawar Singh House and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh House. The students of Sahibzada Jujhar Singh House managed to move a step forward and bagged the trophy by winning the match. The team members were honoured with certificate and trophy by Principal Savina Bahl. President Narotam Singh, Vice-President Gagandeep Kaur were overjoyed with the result.
Seminar on Traffic Rules
Guru Amar Dass Public School, Model Town, organised a comprehensive seminar on traffic rules and cybercrime awareness. It was organised by the office of Commissioner of Police. Sub-Inspector Raghubir Singh and Head Constable Baljinder Kaur from Sanjh Kendra Model Town educated the students about traffic rules and cybercrime. The students were enlightened about the consequences of driving two-wheeler or four-wheelers before the age of 18. They were also made aware about the heavy fine imposed and punishment for underage driving. President Mohinderjit Singh and Principal Aparana Mehta expressed gratitude and appreciated the efforts of traffic police.
World Lung Cancer Day
St Soldier Divine Public School, Maan Nagar, observed “World Lung Cancer Day”. The aim to celebrate this day was to spread awareness about the disease and the unhealthy lifestyle habits that must be changed to stay safe. Students made posters on the theme of prevention of lung cancer to give a social message to society. Group Vice-Chairperson said the day aims to educate the public about the risks, symptoms, and treatments of lung cancer and to support those affected by the disease. She also encouraged students to participate in these social awareness events.
Skating championship
Two budding sports stars of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, brought laurels to their institute by securing positions in Jalandhar District Skating Championship held at Police DAV School, Jalandhar Cantt. Divisha Jain won bronze medal in U-9 in 5 Lap girls category and Pragun Jain won two gold medals in 500m and 1,000m in U-17 boys category. Principal Sangeeta Nistandra and HoD Physical Education Department Sanjeev Gandhi congratulated the winners.
Debate Competition
To hone public speaking skills of students, inter-house Hindi debate and declamation competitions were organised at State Public School, Shahkot. Students from classes VI-VIII participated in the declamation Competition, which was a kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts and perspective that enhanced the knowledge and understanding about the social media and role of parents. The students from classes IX-XII participated in the debate Competition, which taught them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. Mother Teresa House was represented by Navjot Kaur and Manvir Singh, Amrita Pritam House included Harshdeep Kaur and Parag, Helen Keller House consisted Deepjot and Niyati and Kalpana Chawla House was represented by Dhruvi and Shaheen. Principal Kanwar Neel Kamal appreciated the efforts and thoughts of the young students. tns
