Campus notes: Sahodaya schools honour teachers

The Amritsar Sahodaya Schools Complex hosted its grand annual Teacher’s Day celebrations at Cambridge International School, Loharka, on September 7. The event recognised the contributions of 105 exemplary teachers from various CBSE schools, along with their principals. Among those honoured were five principals — Manjeet Kaur Walia (New Indian Public School, Batala), Jatinder Kaur (Lotus Valley Senior School, Tarn Taran), Parabdeep Kaur (Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Public School, Ajnala), Amarpreet Kaur (Saint Soldier Elite Convent School, Jandiala Guru) and Manisha Dhanuka (Stalwarts World School, Verka Bypass, Amritsar). The chief guest on the occasion, Dr Mahima Gupta, Dean of Academics & Programmes and Professor at IIM Amritsar, was honoured by Dr Vinodita Sankhyan, president of Amritsar Sahodaya, along with other office-bearers. Honours were also bestowed on Dr Dharamveer Singh (former Principal, Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road), Dr Anita Bhalla (Principal, Bhavan’s SL Public School) and Dr Anjana Gupta (Principal, DAV International School, Amritsar).

Teacher’s Day celebrated

Amritsar: Teacher’s Day was celebrated at Dalhousie Public School, Badhani. Chairperson Rupam Kaur Grewal and Assistant Director Danbir Singh Grewal were honoured on the occasion. A special assembly was conducted to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr S. Radhakrishnan. The senior students were given an opportunity to be student-teachers. Children presented greeting cards to their teachers. A lady teachers vs girl students throwball match and boys vs male staff volleyball match was held as part of celebrations. All teachers were honoured with gifts as a token of appreciation.

Free physiotherapy camp at KCA

Amritsar: Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) organised a free physiotherapy remedial camp for neck and back pain and also to create awareness regarding changing lifestyle at its PG Department of Physiotherapy. The camp was inaugurated by Dr Mehal Singh, Principal, Khalsa College, and aimed to conduct a remedial teaching session for patients suffering from neck and back pain due to muscle spasm, poor posture and insufficient dietary intake. The session included the entire assessment of the patients, first performed through a questionnaire. The protocol was planned according to symptoms. Patients from the college campus and nearby areas availed of free services. The camp was supervised by Dr Varinder Kaur, Head, Physiotherapy Department.

Industry interactive session held

Amritsar: Dinero Finance Club of University Business School, Guru Nanak Dev University, hosted an industry interactive session, ‘Trade Vision: Decoding the Dynamics of Stock Market’, under the guidance and scientific vision of Vice-chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu. The motive of the session is to study the dynamics of stock market. More than 100 students and teachers participated. Paramjit Sachdeva, Managing Director at Sachdeva Stocks Pvt Ltd, was the resource person on the occasion. Prof Pavleen Soni, Head of UBS Department, marked the commencement of the session. Recently, the Dinero Finance Club also organised an expert talk on ‘NextGen Finance— Innovating Financial Wellness for Tomorrow’s Leaders’ with Dr Hiral Trivedi Pathak, a SEBI smart trainer and financial educator, as the resource person. The events reinforced the importance of staying informed and connected in the fast-paced world of finance and investment.

Cedar Spring honours teachers

Amritsar: To commemorate Teacher’s Day, Cedar Spring High School organised a ceremony honouring its dedicated faculty members for their remarkable contribution to education. The day began with a special morning assembly, where students expressed their heartfelt appreciation by presenting flowers and greeting cards to their teachers, creating an atmosphere of celebration throughout the school. Principal Nitin Verma praised the educators, remarking, “Teachers are the true sculptors of our future generations. Today provides us with an opportunity to recognise and thank them for their relentless efforts.” The prestigious Cedar Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred upon Gurdeep Kaur Sarhaddi and Harminder Kaur for their contribution to the field of education. Jaswinder Kaur was honoured with the Best Educator Appreciation Award.
