Dyal Singh College, Karnal, in collaboration with the Haryana Kala Parishad and supported by the North Region Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), organised a special festival celebrating endangered folk arts under the theme, ‘Lok Virasat’. The event is aimed at raising awareness about the vanishing folk arts of the state while showcasing the cultural diversity of Haryana. Ashima Gakhar, principal of the college, welcomed Vivek Chawla, director, Youth and Cultural Affairs, KUK, and all other dignitaries present on the occasion. She highlighted the importance of preserving folk traditions as an essential part of Haryana’s cultural identity. She emphasised that folk art forms served as a crucial platform to revive and pass on these traditions to future generations. She also shared that Haryana, with its rich cultural heritage, reflected a unique blend of arts and crafts. Vivek Chawla underlined the importance of Haryana’s folk dances, which are performed on various occasions such as weddings, festivals, and social gatherings and are an integral part of the state’s cultural identity.

Polytechnic students win bronze

Yamunanagar: The basketball team of Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic has secured the bronze medal at the prestigious inter-polytechnic basketball tournament held by CR Polytechnic in Rohtak. This tournament brought together several renowned polytechnic institutions from Haryana, showcasing the best talent and athletic skills in the region. The team demonstrated exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament, ultimately achieving the third place with a commendable victory against Vaish Polytechnic, Rohtak.

Women panel vice-prez meets students

Bhiwani: Women should become entrepreneurs and participate in the vision of Viksit Bharat. It was stated by the Vice-President of Haryana State Commission for Women, Sonia Aggarwal, while addressing the students and faculty members in a programme organised by the Women Cell of the university. She said in today's changing era, taking into consideration the evolving entrepreneurial scenario, women were being instrumental in bringing about transformation in the perspective towards industrial trends. She said women should be aware of their rights and make good use of their rights.

Workshop on wellness

Rohtak: A workshop on ‘The key to wellness: A happy and healthy mind’ was organised at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, psychologist and motivational speaker Prof Vandana Sharma said, “The key to wellness and happiness lies in positivity. In life, we get what we think, and hence, we should think positive.” The workshop was organised jointly by the Happitude Laboratory and the department of psychology of the university.
