Jalandhar: Deepa Pardhan, a student of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, has won the first prize in India in national contest 2024 of Instagram Reel Making Competition organized by the UGC in context of Anti-Ragging Week. Deepa Pardhan is a student of B.Voc Journalism and Media Sem V. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen congratulated her and told that UGC organised various national level competitions during anti-ragging week. HMV participated in Instragram Reel Making Competition and uploaded it as per instructions. This reel was prepared by Deepa and her team. Team members were Seema, Reena, Damanpreet, Seher, Mehak, Anjali, Anjani and Diksha. These students prepared 60 second reel through which they spread social and legal awareness against ragging. Anti-ragging in-charge HMV Binoo Gupta told that there were 3,290 participants in this competition and HMV stood in 23 finalists. Finally, HMV won the first prize in India level. Head of department Dr Rama Sharma told the award indicated there is lot of creativity in the students.

Career preparedness training course

Jalandhar: More than 40 students of Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus completed 15-day career preparedness training by TCS iON. Students of pre-final year of B.Tech have completed the course to equip themselves with core employability skills. The course had 14 modules including communication skills, presentation skills, soft skills, group discussion, telephone etiquettes etc. Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director Academic Affairs KCL Group) and Dr R S Deol, Director of LKCTC, congratulated the students and highlighted that these career-driven programmes by TCS-iON will help to bridge up the gap between industry and academia.

Montessori Mela

Jalandhar: Eklavya School, Nakodar Road, celebrates the birthday of Dr Maria Montessori every year by organising a Montessori Mela in which kids give a presentation on the use of Montessori materials. Exhibition was organised in the School where the kindergarten and primary school students showcased their skills in manoeuvring the Montessori material. The parents of pre-primary and primary section were invited. They appreciated and enjoyed the event. Nursery students exhibited the use of fruit cut outs, shapes, mode of transport and number tracing which help in developing the eye-hand coordination. They also solved the puzzles which help in enhancing their general knowledge and visual discrimination. Director Seema Handa visited all the classes and addressed that Montessori education supports children social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Principal Komal Arora appreciated the efforts made by the students.

Student shines in exam

Jalandhar: Ashima of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar has bagged the 2nd position in the university exams of Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)-II Year by getting 571 marks out of 800. Jasmeet Kaur bagged 5th position by getting 549 marks in the same class. This information was given in a press note issued by Principal Dr Jaspal Singh. President of the College Governing Council Balbir Kaur and Principal Dr Jaspal Singh congratulated the students and wished them success in life. Dr Raju Sharma, head, Department of Physiotherapy, Dr Jaswant Kaur, Dr Priyank Sharda, Dr Anjali Ojha, and Dr Vaishali Mohindru were also present on the occasion.

MCom result

Jalandhar: A student of M.Com Semester II of PCM S.D. College for Women has excelled in the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) examinations. Muskan Kalia has secured the second position in the university with SGPA of 8.77. President Naresh Budhia, senior vice-president Vinod Dada and Principal Prof Pooja Prashar congratulated Muskan Kalia for bringing laurels to the institution. The Principal also commended the innovative efforts of the Department of Commerce and Management for achieving such exceptional results.

Sahodaya Hindi Street Play

Jalandhar: CT World School hosted the Sahodaya Inter-School Hindi Street Play Competition under the aegis of the Sahodaya School Complex. This vibrant event brought together 48 schools and over 450 talented students from across the region, providing a platform for young minds to showcase their creativity, performance skills, and social awareness. The competition centred around two crucial themes: Women Empowerment and the Impact of Social Media. Participating schools included prominent names such as Cambridge International School, MGN Public School, DIPS (Suranassi), DRDAV Centenary Public School, Sanskriti KMV School, Swami Sant Dass Public School (Phagwara), The Gurukul School, Baba Lalwani Public School, La Blossoms School, DIPS (Tanda), and many more. Bawa Lalvani Public School and Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara emerged victorious, securing the first prize. The Gurukul School and Shiv Jyoti Public School claimed the second prize, while Doaba Public School, Dohlorn and Innocent Hearts School, Loharan took home the third prize. MGN Public School and Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar were awarded consolation prizes.

World Robot Olympiad

Jalandhar: Following the launch of a new Robotic Lab at Cambridge International School, Phagwara, students Aarav Dhindsa, Ruhaan Prabhakar and Anant participated in their very first robotics competition at Manav Rachna International School, Chandigarh, where they clinched a prestigious prize, showcasing their newly acquired skills and innovative approach. They secured second position and brought laurels to school. The students have now qualified for the national round, which will be held in Delhi. Principal Jorawar Singh and Chairperson Jasbir Bassi extended their heartfelt congratulations to the students and their mentors for their outstanding achievements.
