Panipat: Students of the Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) have won the first prize in the National Smart India Hackathon grand finale that was held at Kolhapur. Their Aeroponic Tower project, which enables soil-less farming and maximizes crop yield using minimal space, earned them a cash reward of ?1 lakh. The Aeroponic Tower, integrated with AI, IoT, and data science, automates irrigation and nutrition management, making it a sustainable farming solution. It can produce 100 kg of tomatoes in the space required for just 5 kg, demonstrating its revolutionary potential. The team, comprising Eklavya, Unnati, Vansh, Akshit, Arpita, Lovish and Ujjwal, worked under the guidance of Sunil Dhull and Anju Gandhi. PIET vice-chairman Rakesh Tayal commended the project, calling it a step toward futuristic farming. The institute felicitated the team for its achievement. PIET chairman Hari Om Tayal, member secretary Suresh Tayal, board member Shubham Tayal and director Shakti Kumar congratulated the team on their national victory.

KU VC launches website

Kurukshetra: The Institute of Environmental Studies (IES), Kurukshetra University, is going to organise a “National Conference on Environment and Sustainability (NACONES-2025)” on January 24. In this regard, an official website — https://conferenceskuk.in/ — and brochure were launched by Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva. He said, “This conference will bring together renowned scientists, researchers, industry persons and academicians to discuss pressing issues related to the Environment and Sustainability and interdisciplinary research in exploring solutions for environmental challenges is crucial in today’s world.” Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Jitender Sharma said that the NACONES-2025 website and brochure provided comprehensive information about the event, including registration details, programme schedules, paper submission guidelines and details about speakers Dev Vrat Kamboj, Director, DRL, Tezpur; Anubha Kaushik, GGS IPU, New Delhi; Arun K Saraf, IIT-Roorkee; VK Garg, CPU, Bathinda. Deputy Director, PRO, KU, Jimmy Sharma informed that the registration for this conference was open from December 18 to January 15 and the last date of abstract submission was January 15.
