Amritsar: Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Chabhal, celebrated World Nature Conservation Day to instil a sense of responsibility in students to protect forests and adopt eco-friendly practices to conserve the environment, which is the paramount need of the hour. Class V students expressed their thought-provoking ideas through vibrant and meaningful paintings in the presence of teachers. The school management and principal appreciated the students’ efforts and encouraged them to understand their role in preserving trees to maintain ecological balance.

Course on IoT at KCET

A week-long short term course (STC) on IoT-enabled embedded systems was successfully conducted at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Ranjit Avenue, in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh. The programme was aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of faculty members in the rapidly evolving field of IoT and embedded systems. KCET Director Dr Manju Bala said the integration of IoT in embedded systems offers numerous benefits, including enhanced connectivity, real-time data collection and improved automation. These systems enable seamless communication between devices, leading to more efficient processes and smarter decision-making. In educational settings, understanding IoT embedded systems prepares students for the future, equipping them with the skills needed to drive technological innovation across industries.

Sahodaya Schools prez nominated

The Amritsar Sahodya Schools Complex unanimously nominated Dr Vinodita Sankhyan, Principal of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, The Mall Amritsar, as its new president. Amritsar Sahodaya is a body of all CBSE schools of Amritsar district and comprises of 150 schools. The full body meeting commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by former president of Sahodya Schools Complex, Dr Dharamveer Singh, secretary Dr Anita Bhalla, Principal, Bhawans SL Public School, Dr Vijay Mehra, Director, The Senior Study, Principal Rajeev Sharma, of Spring Dales Senior Secondary School and host principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan. Dr Raman Dua, Principal, Majha Public School, Tarn Taran, has been designated as the vice-president of the Sahodaya Schools Complex, Amritsar. Sahodaya Schools Complex, Amritsar, is a platform of more than 130 CBSE schools from Amritsar, Rayya,Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Batala that facilitates achieving the goal of moving towards excellence in education.

Revel dale public School hosts quiz

To make schoolchildren fully aware of fast-depleting water table a quiz competition based on the topic Parched Future was held at Revel Dale Public School. Through the competition the students were made aware of causes and consequences of water scarcity that is going further accentuate in the coming years. A strong message was communicated to the all the students of the school about the way we need to conserve water resource. Students also learnt about the way technology is to be used to use water resource in a responsible and judicious manner.

Novel Sooraj Di Dhee released

Prominent immigrant novelist of Punjabi language, Nakshdeep Panjkoha’s new novel ‘Sooraj Di Dhee’ was released at Khalsa College. Panjkoha is a prominent Punjabi novelist, who has authored over a dozen novels, published two collections of poetry and written five books in English. Principal Dr Mahal Singh said Punjabi writers leave their birthplace due to economic constraints, but the problems of this place are always in their minds. Dr Atam Singh Randhawa, Head of Punjabi Department, said this novel of Panjkoha deviates from the tradition of Punjabi novels and presents the image of an ideal Punjabi woman living abroad, who faces many kinds of difficulties due to her social status.

Session on drug abuse, traffic rules

Under the direction of the management committee of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavanj S L Public School, a session on drugs and traffic rules was organised. Drug awareness and new traffic rules were the main objective of the event. ACP (West) Gurvinder Bir Singh, SHO Baljinder Singh, Sub-Inspectors Baldev Singh and Chander Mohan addressed the students. They told students not to fall prey to drugs and follow traffic rules. The convention started by presenting plants to the guests. ACP Gurinderbir Singh said students should choose the right career.

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated

Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School paid homage to the martyrs of Indian Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives and won the war at Kargil on July 26, 1999. A special assembly was conducted where students delivered a speech followed by poems to salute the real heroes of the nation.

Handholding Startups

Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus, in collaboration with Startup Punjab, organised a national-level event titled ‘Handholding startups through funding and showcase’. Entries were invited from startups all across the country. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, welcomed all the investors, officials from Startup Punjab, Amarpal Singh Walia and Shyam Sunder, Joint Managers, and all the startups. Chitsimran Kaur, CMA, also delivered a session on the types of funding available for startups.

Simranjit gets 1st spot in DAV College

Hoshiarpur: DAV College principal Prof Vinay Kumar informed that in the results of BCA second semester of Panjab University, Simranjit Kaur secured the first position in the college, scoring 85.75 per cent marks. Prabhdeep Kaur and Sukhpreet Kaur both secured the second position with 85.25 per cent marks, while Mehak secured the third position with 85 per cent marks. OC/
