Campus notes: National medal in badminton
Spring Dale student Nilesh Seth of grade XI bagged gold medal in the Badminton School National Games, winning accolades for Punjab and the school. His achievement also ended the medal drought for Punjab in the game. “The championship, held in Narmadapuram of Madhya Pradesh, saw a close fight for medal between candidates from different states and while representing Punjab, Nilesh proved his mettle by bringing home the gold medal,” shared Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale school. School principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma congratulated the winner and the team of mentors behind this success. “The achievements of our budding players at the national and regional level sports tournaments during the recent past is a testimony to the school’s vision for the promotion of sports as a medium to hone the qualities of discipline and team spirit among the youth,” said Sharma.
27th annual function
St Soldier Elite School, Jandiala Guru, organised the annual function of kindergarten on the theme, ‘The Reality’. Chief guest Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, former IPS officer and MLA, North, and Pramod Bhatia (Chairman, Sports Cell, Punjab) graced the occasion. Managing Director Dr Mangal Singh Kishanpuri and principal Amarpreet Kaur thanked the guests and parents for making the event successful with their presence.
Bal Utsav hosted
Goodwill International School celebrated Baal Utsav in the school campus. The programme started with choreography on a religious song. Dr Sukhraj Kaur, principal of Lilly Swords Methodist College of Education, Batala, inaugurated the utsav. A special attraction was baby show activities, which included baby ball playing and baby dance show. Baby Rehan and Baby Samridhi were crowned as baby Prince and baby Princess, respectively. The fascinating events of the show were fancy dress, folk song, solo dance and role play completions. The star winners were Manreet Kaur, Hargunpreet Kaur and Gurjot Singh in fancy dress. Prabhnoor Kaur of class 8 in folk song and Sunpreet Kaur of class 8 besides Rohan were declared first, second and third. In solo dance, Saraddeep Kaur, Sumeet Kaur and Khushpreet stood first, second and third, respectively. A special attraction of the festival was the variety of joy rides and stalls of eatables. Navreet Kaur, Medical Officer, Amritsar, arrived as a special guest at the utsav. Gurdial Singh, Chairman and principal Amandeep Singh also graced the occasion and lauded the teachers and students for their active participation and excellent management of all the events of children’s festival.
NCC Day observed
NCC cadets of One Punjab Girls Battalion, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, celebrated NCC Day, marking the foundation day of the National Cadet Corps. As a tribute to the occasion, the college NCC unit organised a series of activities, including a tree plantation drive and poster-making competition held to highlight the values that the day embodies. During her address, Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia said that the NCC Day is a celebration of the youth, their potential and commitment to serving the nation. She also motivated the cadets to serve the country with dedication and integrity.
DAV observes NCC Day
Under the direction of Col Birendra Kumar, Commanding Officer, 11 Punjab Battalion, NCC, the candidates of DAV College celebrated NCC Day by making posters and participating in the quiz competition. Nearly 50 cadets participated in these activities. Cadets made posters on various aspects related to NCC. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta praised the NCC cadets for participating in these activities with interest. Captain Kamal Kishore and CTO Puneet Kumar were also present on the occasion and motivated the cadets to participate in these activities in future.
