Bhai Ghanaiyaji Social Welfare Club of the school organised a special assembly to observe National Communal Harmony Flag Day. Hardeep Singh, teacher of the club, presented a detailed talk on the day. Arshdeep Kaur of class 9 delivered a brief speech on communal harmony. Sarabsukhdeep Kaur, a class 7 student and member of the club, administered the pledge of communal harmony on the occasion. Principal Amandeep Singh gave the message to students and teachers to respect all religions, caste and creed. The students and teachers collected Rs 3,000 as donation through the sale of communal harmony flags. This collected amount will be sent to the National Foundation, New Delhi. Jasbinder Kaur, director of the school, presided over the function and appreciated the efforts of the club members, teachers and students for participating in this welfare campaign.

Mass counselling held

Government Senior Secondary School, Balchivind, and Government High School, Mode, with the support of District Bureau Employment Centre, Amritsar, organised a seminar under mass counselling for the students of class 9 to 12. Sukhpal Singh Sandhu, District Guidance Counsellor, District Education Officer (Secondary) Sunil Kumar, Mobilisation Manager, Sun Foundation, Harbhagwant Singh, District Education Officer (Secondary), Khanna, were involved in the arrangements. Mass counselling of students from class 9 to 12 was conducted. The students were informed about the facilities provided by the District Employment Bureau, Amritsar, other government departments as well as the free course conducted by the Sun Foundation. They were given information about ITI, polytechnic and other avenues.

Constitution Day at GNDU

Celebrating Constitution Day, the Department of Laws at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, organised a free legal aid camp and a guest lecture titled “Constitutional Right to Justice in India: The Role and Impact of Lok Adalats.” The event also marked the inauguration of the first issue of the department’s new student magazine, a platform designed to reflect the creativity and voices of law students. The event had Amardeep Singh Bains, Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, as the distinguished guest speaker. The programme began with an address that highlighted the Constitution Day’s significance in upholding democratic values ??of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. Dr Meenu Verma, Head of the Department of Laws, greeted Bains and presented him with a token of appreciation. Amardeep Singh Bains, discussed the pivotal role of Lok Adalats in providing accessible justice to all, focusing on their impact as a cost-effective, efficient means of dispute resolution that greatly benefits underprivileged communities. He also emphasised the importance of legal aid services in empowering individuals to fully realise their constitutional rights. A free legal aid camp was also held, coordinated by Dr Manjit Singh. Dr Meenu Verma unveiled the cover page of the student magazine of the Department of Laws, which will soon be available on the university’s website.
