Campus notes: Industrial visit
Jalandhar: The training and placement cell of School of Management, Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus, in association with Institution’s Innovation Council, organised an industrial visit to AOSC Technologies, Amritsar, for the students of MBA third semester, and BBA and B.Com first semester. Gagandeep Singh, MD and Jasleen, HR Manager, explained the use of Power BI, digital marketing and search engine optimisation in this competitive world and said it is important to upskill to get good placement. The trainers took the students to various departments including finance, marketing, human resource and graphic designing. The industrial visit was arranged by Kunal Verma (Assistant Director, Training and Placement, LKCTC) and coordinated by Prof Bharat Bhushan, (AP, School of Management), Dr Tarunjit Singh (Associate Professor), Dhriti Jain (Assistant Professor) and Manishu (Assistant Professor) from the School of Management.
Bloom District Championship
Jalandhar: CT World School achieved a stellar victory at the Bloom Sports Development Association’s District Championship, clinching the first position in basketball and a commendable participation trophy in football. The championship witnessed intense school competition. The basketball team showcased outstanding skill and teamwork, securing the top honours, while the football team demonstrated impressive grit and determination, earning a well-deserved trophy for their efforts.
Peek-a-boo at Apeejay School
Jalandhar: The teaching faculty of pre-primary wing of Apeejay School organised a peek-a-boo activity for the new enrollments in the wing. The fun-filled event included many activities like games, painting activities and puzzles etc. The enthusiastic tiny tots were shown a movie in the school auditorium. The guests were awarded gifts and certificates to boost their morale. The concept of the event was prepared by team leader and principal Sangeeta Nistandra.
Fire-free X-mas delights
Jalandhar: Mayor World School hosted an exhilarating ‘Cooking Without Fire’ competition centred around the theme Christmas. The students from Grades VII to XI showcased their culinary creativity by preparing delicious and innovative dishes without the use of fire. The competition beautifully captured the spirit of Christmas—sharing, joy and togetherness—while emphasising the importance of healthy eating and sustainability. Participants from the school’s four esteemed houses—Shakespeare, Dickens, Wordsworth and Keats—showcased their culinary prowess, presenting a dazzling array of festive dishes inspired by the holiday season. The display area was transformed into a Christmas wonderland, with each corner brimming with cheer and festivity. It was a feast for the senses, capturing the magic and joy of the season. The competition was judged by Principal Divya Keni and Headmistress Mayor Galaxy Preena Sablok, who lauded the students for their creativity, nutritional choices and innovative presentations. Vice-principal Charu Trehan commended the students for exhibiting remarkable teamwork and dedication. Shakespeare House triumphed as the winner, with outstanding contributions from Inayat Marwaha, Suhavi Baweja, Jaireet Kaur and Inayet Mehta. Dickens House secured a commendable second place, followed by Wordsworth and Keats Houses in third place.
Annual Athletics Meet
Jalandhar: The two-day annual athletics meet started at MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar. Chief guest Vivek Kumar Modi (SDM, Adampur) inaugurated the event by hoisting the school flag and declaring the meet open. A march past by the four school Houses, NSS cadets and school band marked the beginning followed by heart-throbbing Zumba dance and bhangra performances by the students. He highlighted the importance of physical fitness and sports in life and encouraged the students to actively participate in sports as it not only helps to improve physical fitness, but also improves focus. Principal KS Randhawa, Sangeeta Bhatia (Academy coordinator-cum-Headmistress), Sukham (In-charge, Pre-primary Wing), Inderpreet Kaur (CBSE coordinator) and Satwinder Singh (Coordinator, Secondary Wing) extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and expressed gratitude for his presence.
Bone density test camp held
Jalandhar: A bone density test camp was organised by ‘Jalandhar Menopause Society’ at Police DAV Public School under the guidance of Principal Dr Rashmi Vij. On the occasion, Dr Sushma Chawla, Dr Seema Pasricha and other doctors associated with the organisation, visited the school. The visiting doctors advised the teachers to get their bone density test done regularly and include calcium-rich food in their diet because with increasing age, bones start becoming weak due to lack of calcium in the body.
NSS camp at HMV
Jalandhar: An NSS camp was organised under the surveillance of Principal Dr Ajay Sareen in Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. The day started with “DAV Gaan” and subsequent formal address by Principal Ajay Sareen to the NSS volunteers. Dr Sareen motivated and blessed the students for their concerted efforts being made for the welfare of society. On the second day of the camp, NSS volunteers visited village Gill to perform distinct duties. The Sarpanch of village Gill welcomed the NSS volunteers and other associated members of HMV. The volunteers made the students of local primary school aware about healthy habits like waking up early, keeping one’s body clean, exercising regularly, washing one’s hands, not eating junk food, and covering one’s mouth while sneezing with use of mask when necessary.
