Campus notes: Hindi Diwas Celebrated
Gurdaspur: Delhi Public School, Gurdaspur, organised a function to mark Hindi Diwas. The event was held to honour Hindi, a language that is established as the national, contact and communication language. The event's chief guest was Dr Navratan Satwanshi, a renowned doctor from Behrampur. A group song performance and street play titled ‘Hindi Bimar Hai’, portraying the utility of Hindi in daily life, touched the hearts of the audience and deepened their respect for the language. Other competitions were held in the honour of Hindi Diwas, including calligraphy, news reading and speech contests. The students enthusiastically participated in all competitions. A satirical poetry competition was also conducted, in which participants presented their views on modern social issues, leaving the audience in fits of laughter. At the conclusion of the programme, the chief guest and the members of the management committee presented the ‘Hindi Bhasha Samman’ awards to the winners of various competitions, encouraging their efforts.
Annual Function held
Amritsar: Shri Ram Ashram School hosted annual function for Class II and III. The event was graced by the presence of chief guest Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar — Amritsar South MLA. The cultural programme was the highlight of the day, where students showcased their talents through vibrant performances. Theme of the function — colourful seasons, was reflected in an array of performances, ranging from dances, dramas and musical renditions. School president Balbir Bajaj commended the staff and students. He praised the efforts of little learners also. School Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan expressed her pride in the students' achievements. She said that the annual function was not only a celebration of students' talents, but also a reflection of their commitment to holistic education.
Khalsa School girls win medals
Amritsar: The girls of Khalsa College Girls Senior Secondary School, under the Khalsa College Governing Council, have excelled in handball, volleyball, fencing and hockey competitions of the 68th Punjab State District Level School Games and bagged various medals. Principal Puneet Kaur Nagpal congratulated the students who excelled in the games. The under-14, 17 and 19 teams secured second place in the handball competition. The under-14 and under-19 teams secured first place and under-17 team secured second place in the volleyball competition. She said in the fencing competition, Navjot Kaur won silver; Jashndeep Kaur won two silver medals; Kirti won a silver and bronze medal; and Janhvi won a bronze medal. While the under-19 hockey team has brought laurels to the school by securing the first position.
Rotaract installation ceremony
Amritsar: The fourth installation ceremony of the Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, was held in the Rose Villa hall, marking a significant milestone in community service and youth engagement. The event was attended by esteemed guests, Rotarians who gathered to witness the formal induction of the club’s new officers and members. Samistha Mahajan was appointed as student president and accorded a collar. Nazuk Sharma was appointed as the student secretarya, Rtr Diksha was appointed as president elect and other office-bearers received pins, indicating their respective positions in the club.
