Campus notes: Guidance for needy students
Karnal: Initiated in 2022, the Lakshya Praapti Protsaahan Yojana (LPPY) is a unique initiative of the RKSD College, which is aimed at providing support and guidance to bright and needy students for achieving their professional goals. It is supported by the college alumnus and renowned entrepreneur of the town, Sushil Bansal. Prof Geeta Goyal, convener of the LPPY committee, said a written test was held for selection of the scheme beneficiaries on September 18. Of the 287 students from RKSD College (morning and evening sessions) who appeared in the test, 38 were shortlisted. After the interview by the committee members, 25 students were finally selected. Principal and LPPY patron Sanjay Goyal motivated the selected students to pursue their aim. Ashwani Shorewala, president, governing body, other members of the governing body and staff members congratulated the students.
Contest at Khalsa College
Yamunanagar: The Department of Social Work at Guru Nanak Khalsa College successfully organised a poster-making and slogan-writing competition to create awareness about substance abuse. Dr Harinder Singh Kang, Principal of the college, emphasised that such competitions not only foster creativity, but also engage students in crucial societal issues. Dr Hemant Mishra, Associate Professor of Social Work, highlighted that such events play a significant role in sensitising students about the harmful effects of drugs and the importance of mental health. Nivea (BEd Second Year) won the first prize, Navpreet Kaur (MSc) secured the second position, and Chetanya Kaushik (BSc) stood third. Kirti Bansal (Bed) won the consolation prize.
