Karnal: Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Karnal, marked its 55th Foundation Day with a series of events, including a blood donation camp in collaboration with the NCC Unit, NSS Unit, and HDFC Bank. Col KK Venkataraman, Commanding Officer of the Seven Haryana Battalion NCC, graced the event as the chief guest. He emphasised the importance of blood donation, calling it a “great donation” that should be undertaken by everybody. Acknowledging the shortage of blood at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, he encouraged more number of institutions to contribute to such noble causes. The camp successfully collected approximately 31 units of blood. A ‘shabad gayan’ competition was held, featuring participation from 12 teams from various schools. The event saw beautiful performances, with Sant Nikka Public School, Zarifa Farm, Karnal, securing the first position; Guru Nanak Girls Senior Secondary School, Karnal, taking the second place, and Parth Public School, Gharaunda, finishing third. Dr Satwant Kaur Mann, Principal of Mata Sundri Khalsa Girls College, was the chief guest and spoke eloquently on the significance of shabad in human life stating that it was the voice of the Gurus connecting directly to the Almighty. The president of the college management committee, Sardar Kanwarjit Singh Prince, highlighted the college’s commitment in promoting the teachings of the Gurus alongside formal education since its inception in 1969.

Int’l conference report released

Kurukshetra: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (KUK) released a conference report of the fifth international conference on ‘Mobile Radio Communications and 5G Networks’ (MRCN-2024). The conference report was released by Vice Chancellor Kurukshetra University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva in the presence of Registrar, KUK, Prof Sanjeev Sharma, Director UIET, Prof Sunil Dhingra and organising secretary, MRCN-2024 Dr Nikhil Kumar Marriwala. Congratulating the organising committee of MRCN-2024, Prof Sachdeva said the conference report would serve as an invaluable resource for the research scholars and faculty members in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Director, UIET, Prof (Dr) Sunil Dhingra informed that MRCN-2024 was organised in collaboration with Springer which featured experts and researchers from around the globe who shared advancements in mobile radio and 5G technology. Prof Dhingra added that the conference report included 60 paper presentations selected from 355 submissions, alongside six keynote addresses from global experts in wireless communications. Registrar, Kurukshetra University, Prof Sanjeev Sharma said the comprehensive report marked a successful chapter in the journey of academic excellence and research of UIET and Kurukshetra University.

Vigilance awareness rally held

Sirsa: Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, marked vigilance awareness week 2024 with a rally organised by the chief vigilance office and NSS. The rally was flagged off by the university’s Registrar, Dr Rajesh Kumar Bansal, who emphasised this year’s theme ‘Integrity for Prosperity of the Nation’. Dr Bansal highlighted that corruption undermined trust and progress. Chief Vigilance Officer Prof Umed Singh shared that the event, held under the guidance of VC Prof Ajmer Singh Malik, aimed to inspire collective action against corruption. “The rally seeks to raise awareness about the existence, causes, and dangers of corruption and to promote its prevention,” he said. Prominent attendees included Prof Rajkumar Siwach and Prof DP Varne, along with other intellectuals. The event encouraged participants to make a commitment to foster a culture of integrity for a prosperous future.

Talk on crop residue management held

Yamunanagar: Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, organised an awareness programme on crop residue management aimed at educating students on sustainable agricultural practices. Prominent scientist Dr Kapil Singla of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, elaborated on the scientific aspects of residue management and shared practical methods, including the use of machinery for efficient crop residue disposal and the benefits of residue recycling for organic farming. Rohit Mandhar, coordinator of the event, outlined its significance in the light of the growing challenges in Indian agriculture. Amandeep Singh, training and placement officer, stressed on the need for awareness campaigns to educate local farmers.
