Campus notes: Carnival of dreams

Amritsar: In a vibrant celebration of talent, creativity and school spirit, the Senior Study, Cantonment, hosted its 40th annual show under the guidance of director Kanchan Mehra, titled ‘Carnival of Dreams’. The event was a grand showcasing of the diverse talent of students. The show was presided over by DIG, Jalandhar, Swapan Sharma. The highlight of the evening was a tribute to the director to honour her vision and dedication. The teachers who have served the school for over 20 years were also felicitated.

Principals’ conclave

Amritsar: The Amritsar Sahodaya Schools Complex, in collaboration with the SS Chandok Talk Show, hosted the “Principals’ conclave”. The event was aimed at uniting members of Sahodaya from across Punjab, fostering meaningful networking, collaboration and the exchange of innovative ideas to strengthen schools through collective wisdom and expertise. Dr Vinodita Sankhyan, president of Amritsar Sahodaya Schools Complex, welcomed everyone. Guest of honour Dr Anita Bhalla, advisor of Amritsar Sahodaya Schools Complex, Ajit Singh Soni, Managing Director of DRS Group of Schools, Jammu, Jaswinder Singh, CEO Words Worth, and Dr Som Prakash, Director, Academics Maxx Learn India, were honoured. Over 90 esteemed principals attended the conclave, making it a grand occasion for educators to come together and share their experiences. Renowned speakers delivered enlightening presentations on a range of critical topics that were greatly appreciated by everyone.

Kaushal Dikshant Ceremony

Amritsar: ‘Kaushal Dikshant Ceremony’ was organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India and as per the instructions of the Department of Technical Education, Punjab Government, at Government ITI, Ranjit Avenue with the joint efforts of this institution and Dayanand ITI, Amritsar. Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal was the chief guest on the occasion. Prominent industrialist Lavtesh Sachdeva, owner of Novelty Group and Chairman, Market Committee, Ajnala, Jatinder Pal Singh Moti Bhatia, former councillor and Gaurav Agarwal, AAP leader, were present. Dhaliwal distributed certificates to about 150 trainees, who stood first, second and third in their respective trades and to the instructors of both institutes. Principal Sanjeev Sharma informed that all the students of this institute secured 100 per cent placement and 100 per cent admission.

CBSE capacity-building programme

Amritsar: Educators at Spring Dale got acquainted with the latest trends in the ever evolving teaching-learning process as per the modern day guidelines of the CBSE, when the Board, through its Centre of Excellence (COE) in Chandigarh, organised a day-long capacity building programme titled “Educating the parents on education”, at Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar. The programme was conducted by the CBSE resource persons, Dr Vinodita Sankhyan and Dr Upma Mahajan. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, said, “Through this training programme, the teachers were oriented towards including the parents as stakeholders in the process of imparting education and life skills to the children, through curricular and co-curricular programmes. They were also made aware of the innovative interactive practices.” Principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said that the modern day teaching is about looking beyond the text-book knowledge and calls for developing a cohesive relationship among the teachers, pupils and parents as equally important stakeholders in the overall development of the children.

Seminar for math teachers

Amritsar: A seminar was organised for mathematics teachers at DAV International School, Amritsar, under the guidance of principal Dr Anjana Gupta. The seminar featured Rashmi Kathuria, Education Officer, at the DAV Centre for Academic Excellence, DAV Managing Committee, New Delhi, and renowned educationist Shuchi Goyal, as the main speakers. Addressing the teachers, Rashmi Kathuria emphasised that mathematics is closely linked to our daily lives. She advised teachers to explain mathematical concepts and problems by connecting them to real-life situations. She mentioned that it has become essential to change traditional methods and systems, as our challenges have evolved over time. She encouraged the teachers to continually seek innovative strategies without worrying about public opinion, personal gain or guaranteed success. Shuchi Goyal highlighted that mathematics is the art of life, which teaches confidence, honesty and resourcefulness, as it requires exploring new ways to solve problems. She also discussed the question paper design in detail.
