Campus notes: Best principal award
The principal of Stalwarts World School, Amritsar, Manisha Dhanuka, was honoured with the ‘Principal of the Year’ award for her outstanding leadership and contribution to the field of education at the EduLeaders Summit & Awards. The event was held recently in Chandigarh and brought together educational professionals from schools across various cities to discuss the integration of technology in modern education and its potential impact on future learning. The event aimed to address key areas of educational advancement, including technological implementation, diversity and innovative learning tools. The award acknowledged her commitment to fostering a progressive learning environment and implementing effective strategies that have significantly enhanced the quality of education at her institution. Regional Officer of CBSE, Haryana and Himachal, and the guest of honour, Dr Parmod Kumar, who is the State Programme Officer, Department of School Education, Government of Haryana, also conducted a seminar.
Spring Blossomers’ excursion
Amritsar: Spring Blossoms school organised an excursion trip to ‘Punjab State War Heroes Memorial & Museum’, for children of KG, and to ‘Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama’, for children of Nursery and to ‘Hopping Bunnies’, for children of Pre-Nursery from November 26-29. The memorial-cum-museum covers the heroism and sacrifices of our brave soldiers and how they had protected our motherland from the invaders. In this way, the spirit of patriotism was rekindled in them. The museum displays everything the heroes stood for and more. The children also enjoyed the unique 7D show which displays battle zones virtually. For children of Nursery, the main attraction of the panorama was a gigantic 12 meter tall and 100 meter long panoramic painting, depicting six major battle expeditions of the Maharaja. The children got useful information from the interactive touch screen multimedia kiosks placed in the panorama.
Cultural Fest
Amritsar: A day-long Inter-Khalsa Cultural Festival-2024 was held at Khalsa College Public School, GT Road. Students from five Khalsa Schools participated in various cultural events and earned prizes. The chief guest, Khalsa University Pro-Chancellor and KCGC secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina distributed the awards at the closing ceremony, as he emphasised that the students must concentrate on extra-curricular activities apart from academics. All the schools under Khalsa College Management, including Khalsa College Senior Secondary School (Boys), Khalsa College Public School, Heir, Khalsa College Girls Senior Secondary and Khalsa College International Public School, Ranjit Avenue, participated in this fest with zeal and enthusiasm. The participants competed in various events, including Shabad recitation, folk dance, folk songs, bhangra, gidda, poetry and declamation contests. Principal Amarjit Singh Gill earlier welcomed the guests and asked them to imbibe in the students the spirit of self-confidence.
Inter-varsity tourney
Amritsar: Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala, won the Inter-University Hockey Women’s Championship-2024 and bagged the trophy while Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, came second. Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, was declared third in the tourney. The Khalsa College of Physical Education (KCPE) hosted the tournament on behalf of the university. In total, 27 teams from all over the region took part in the event and the final and semi-finals were played at the hockey ground of Khalsa College Senior Secondary School today, said Khalsa University (KU) Controller of Examinations and Principal, KCPE, Dr Kanwaljit Singh.
