Campus notes: BCM arya model Sr Sec school
Ludhiana: BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, observed Toppers’ Day. The school welcomed students, parents and teachers to revel in the exceptional achievements of the 2023-24 session. Harpreet Kang, dean, PCTE Group of Institutes, Ludhiana, was the chief guest. The event began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana. School captain Shamul Arora and house captain Rashi Sood presented the annual report. At the event, as many as 200 students and 39 teachers were lauded for their remarkable achievements. Students who excelled in competitive entrance exams also received special recognition.
DAV public school
An inter-class Hindi debate competition was organised for Class VII students at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road. Over 50 students qualified for the final round. The aim of the competition was to encourage the students to articulate their thoughts clearly and confidently. Students presented their views on diverse topics. The participants were judged on the basis of the content of their arguments and their elocution. Academic Supervisor Jaideep Kaur shared that the ability to communicate efficiently was a crucial skill in today’s world.
DCM YES
DCM YES held an seminar on parenting titled ‘Dil Se’, bringing together a panel of experts and dignitaries to address the challenges faced by modern-day parents. The seminar featured a panel discussion where the experts shared their personal experiences and offered practical guidance on effective child-rearing strategies. The event aimed to provide a supportive platform for parents to connect, share concerns and gain insights into nurturing their children in a rapidly changing world.
Gujranwala guru nanak institute
A two-day workshop on CorelDRAW, a graphic design software, was organised by the Department of Fashion Design at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi. As many as 50 students from numerous colleges participated in the workshop. Resource person Rishita Sharma introduced the students to the different tools of the software, explaining how they could be applied for textile and fashion designing. Manjit Singh Chhabra, director, GGNIMT, hoped the workshop would have inspired the participants to pursue a career in the fashion world.
Sat paul mittal school
Students of classes IX-XII — of the science stream — of Sat Paul Mittal School recently had the opportunity of visiting ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota range. As many as 20 students participated in the visit. At Sriharikota, the students got the opportunity to interact with ISRO scientists who gave them information on India’s upcoming space missions, space exploration and cutting-edge space technology. The students participated in a variety of activities including guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility and demonstrations showcasing the latest advancements in space research. The students also explored various sections of the space centre, including the launch pad and mission control room and observed the preparations for upcoming satellite launches.
Khalsa college for women
Youth Red Cross Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, organised an HIV/AIDS awareness programme on the college campus. The objective of the initiative was to sensitise students about HIV/AIDS, its prevention and to address the stigma associated with the condition. Students prepared posters disseminating important information on HIV/AIDS, informing fellow students about preventive measures and the importance of medical examination. The posters were later showcased during the morning assembly.
