Campus notes: Annual sports day

Army Public School celebrated its 25th Annual Sports Day 2024 showcasing athletic prowess, discipline and sportsmanship of the students. The event was graced by Sarita Bhaduria, Officiating Zonal President of Vajra AWWA, along with other distinguished dignitaries including Brig Navin Sehrawat, Chief Signal Officer, HQ 11 Corps, and Chairman APS Jalandhar, Dr Saksham Singh, Principal, and Mandeep Talwar, Vice Principal. The festivities kicked off with a march past by the dauntless stride of the four Houses headed by the Student Council members accompanied by two NCC cadets. The meet unfolded with a series of exhilarating track and field events. Beyond the races, the event featured diverse cultural activities which added to the excitement.

Inter School Cricket Tournament

Jalandhar: SD Trophy U-19 Inter School Cricket Tournament 2024 was held in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Sr. Sec. School. Various teams of SD Institution participated in it. The closing ceremony was presided over by Vinod Dada (Sr. Vice President). The other dignitaries present were Parveen Dada (Manager), D K Joshi (member of management), Swatantar Pathania (Principal, DSSD Sr. Sec. School,Basti Nau) and Sanjay Sharma (Principal, DSSD Sr. Sec. School). The closing ceremony witnessed the final cricket match between DSSD Sr. Sec. School, Basti Nau, and DSSD Sr. Sec. School. The final match was enjoyed by everyone. SD Trophy was bagged by DSSD Sr. Sec. School,Basti Nau. The trophy and medals were given to the players of the winning team and runner up team. Principal Priyanka Sharma congratulated the winning team and thanked the participating teams for their commitment.

Maths wizard

Jalandhar: State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised Maths Wizard for classes 1 to 10. The competition was carried on with different levels. The first level was open for all the students and was done in the written form. From this level, 3 to 4 students were taken to the second level from every section of each class. The students competed against each other at level two which was done on stage with the help of different rounds. After level 2, a single winner was selected from each class. The winners were Paramveer from class 1, Anav from class 2, Atharv from class 3, Devam Gaba from class 4, Yash Choudhary from class 5, Ananya from class 6, Teena from class 7, Prabhjot from class 8, Dalia Roy from class 9 and Jasnoor Kaur from class 10. Principal Savina Bahl was overjoyed with the performance of the students and congratulated all the winners.

State-level judo championship

Amritsar: Gurnoor Kaur Chinna, a talented student of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, The Mall, Amritsar has made the school and district proud by securing a bronze medal and also a cash prize of Rs 7,000 in the Under-14 girls 55 plus weight category at the Khedan Watan Punjab Dian-2024 Judo State Level Championship held in Mansa, Punjab, from November 14 to 18. Organised by the Mansa district administration, the championship witnessed participation of top judokas from across Punjab. Gurnoor’s impressive performance was commendable. School president Balbir Bajaj congratulated the winner on her remarkable achievement and wished her success in future endeavours. Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan praised the students, saying, “We are proud of our young achiever. Our school strives to nurture students not only academically but also in sports and games, fostering overall development.”
