Campus notes: Annual Show-2024 celebrated
Students of the primary wing of Spring Dale school put up a lively and vibrant Annual Show-2024 titled “Kala Sangam”. The colourful show was a humble effort to depict the glory of the heritage of India in the form of its art and craft legacy. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, said around 1,400 students participated enthusiastically in this annual show, presenting a vivid visual of the art and craft forms of India and their connect to our socio-cultural system. The event was presided over by Gursimran Singh Dhillon, PCS, SDM-I, Amritsar, who is an alumnus. School principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said the show was a humble appeal to the masses to preserve and conserve the heritage of India in all forms. “Arts and crafts of India are not mere artifacts but they are age old traditions interwoven with our socio-cultural web,” added Rajiv Kumar Sharma.
Special lecture on Hindi at GNDU
Amritsar: The Hindi Department of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a special lecture on the topic of ‘Official Language Hindi: Constitutional Opinion and Contradictions’. Brijesh Kumar Pandey, Professor of the Hindi Department of Allahabad University, Prayagraj, was the chief guest. Pandey shed light on the journey and status of Hindi through various constitutional rules and provisions. He said Hindi is now riding on the chariot of new technology. “Hindi learning facilities will have to be made available in Indian languages. We should take a pledge that whatever we say about Hindi, we will do it. Hindi is the thread of unity among all the dialects of the country,” he said. He said a language keeps changing due to people’s behaviour, it is the need of the hour to take initiatives to simplify the administrative language. He said in the era of globalisation, Hindi has emerged as an influential language at the global level. Professor Sunil, Chairman and Dean, Department of Hindi, Faculty of Languages, described Hindi as the language of values, peace, love and the people and said today the whole world is looking at Hindi with a unique curiosity.
