National Essay Contest

Jalandhar: Sanskriti KMV School celebrated the accomplishment of Piyush Gupta, a grade 10 student, who emerged victorious in the prestigious 11th Nanhi Chhaan National School Essay Contest 2024. Piyush clinched the top spot earning him the coveted Titan smart watch. The competition, hosted by Navrachana International School, Vadodara (Gujarat), challenged participants with thought-provoking themes, demanding originality, analytical precision and exceptional storytelling skills. Rachna Monga, principal of Sanskriti KMV School, expressed immense pride in Piyush’s feat.

World Heritage Week celebrated

The Cultural Committee in association with HM Department celebrated World Heritage Week at Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus to promote the importance of preserving cultural and historical heritage. This competitive event saw participation from students who represented six different states of Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Kerala and Chhattisgarh. Students donned the unique attire of their chosen states, bringing a splash of colour and tradition to the college campus. The culinary aspect was a highlight, with students preparing and presenting authentic dishes from their respective states. There was a tie for the first position between two teams —- Kerala, represented by Vansh Kumar, Dilshad Bhanu, Nancy and Sarang Krishna, and the Rajasthan team, represented by Happy, Gungeet Kaur, Kajal Vedwal and Rahul Thapa. The Bihar team, consisting of Bandana Gupta, Navjot Kaur, Deepali and Yashika, secured the second position in the competition. Director Sukhbir Singh Chatha remarked that these programmes act as a great source of learning about the culture of India.

Annual Sports Day

Annual sports day, Atletico: 2024-25, was organised across all five campuses of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt-Jandiala Road, Noorpur Road and Kapurthala Road). The event witnessed participation from students of pre-school to grade II, along with their teachers, making the occasion truly special. The day featured a variety of exciting games and activities designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship among children. Activities included hurdle race, stick race, hula race, balancing race, pick-and-drop race, backward race and balancing ring race. Dr Palak Gupta Bowry (CSR Director) emphasised that sports not only contributes to the physical, mental and intellectual development of children but also boosts their confidence.

Kindergarten Annual Sports Meet

Baba Manjh Convent School recently transformed into a hub of youthful energy and excitement as it hosted the much-awaited Annual Sports Meet for its kindergarten students. Against a backdrop of cheers, laughter and colourful banners, the budding athletes showcased their enthusiasm and sportsmanship through engaging sports activities and games, embodying the essence of teamwork and healthy competition at a tender age.

Teen Talk Session

A Teen Talk session for adolescents was conducted at Apeejay School, Model Town, under renowned psychiatrist Dr Deepali from PIMS. The session focused on addressing the social, physical and psychological challenges faced by students. Students actively engaged by posing a variety of questions to Dr Deepali to satisfy their curiosity. Dr Deepali provided insightful and satisfactory answers to each query, offering students proper guidance to help them tackle the challenges of adolescence effectively. Priyanka Grover, principal, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr Deepali for her valuable time for the development of students.

Expert talk on Green School

PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Jalandhar Cantt, under the guidance of Principal Ravinder Kumar and vice-principal Ugra Mohan Yadav organised an expert talk on ‘Green School’ under the PM Shri Scheme. The event featured Dr Anjana Bhatia, Associate Professor, PG Department of Botany, Hans Raj Mahila Vidyalaya, as the esteemed speaker. The session witnessed an enthusiastic interaction between students and the expert, as Dr Bhatia emphasised on the significance of sustainable practices in daily life. She inspired students to become saviours of the environment by adopting eco-friendly habits and promoting a culture of sustainability. The talk highlighted key green school initiatives, such as waste management, energy conservation and the importance of biodiversity. The session concluded with an expression of gratitude by Yoshoda, the English teacher.

Tennis team bags silver

Bassi Educational Society-run Cambridge International School tennis team has clinched a silver medal in the state-level Khedan Watan Punjab Dian. The tournament was for Under-21 girls wherein Smiti Khetarpal (VIII), Jasleen Walia (XI) and Jasmeen Kaur (XI) participated. The team’s remarkable journey included a series of impressive victories over top schools from across the region as they defeated a team from Moga 4-1, after then a team from Fatehgarh Sahib by 4-0, securing second prize adorned with silver medal. Principal Jorawar Singh remarked, “The silver medal is a testament to our team’s dedication and spirit.”

Hand-printing activity

Jalandhar: A hand-printing activity was organised at CJS Public School. The students did hand impression with multiple colours. The students dipped their hands in various colourful paint and imprinted them on an A4 size sheet. Students enjoyed a lot in this activity. Chairperson Neena Mittal and principal Rajni Rani were also present. They told them about the importance of colours in life.
