Camps held to screen kids for growth delays, ailments
The civil hospital and community health centres held events under the Rashtrya Bal Swastha Karyakram (RBSK) for screening children in the age group of 6 to 18 years for health conditions, development delays and disabilities.
Jyoti Hind, Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Ahmedgarh, said special teams of healthcare personnel led by dental surgeon Anamdeep Singh and Jasdeep Singh organised camps and workshops at various schools.
Appreciating gesture shown by local unit of Rotary Club, Dr Jyoti said enthusiasts led by assistant governor-elect Surinder Pal Sofat had come forward to organise events to sensitise residents in general and parents of children under 18 years of age in particular about the facilities available under RBSK under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
District Nodal Officer Anamdeep Singh informed that camps were being organised to screen students for health conditions, developmental delays and disabilities and initiate further process for providing free treatment to identified patients.
“After identifying children with identified health conditions, we coordinate with their parents through school authorities and persuade them to get the follow-up done at the district-level hospital,” said Anamdeep Singh.
About 40 diseases, including cleft lip, crooked eyes, inverted feet and heart diseases are treated free of cost at hospitals empanelled under the scheme.
Singh said students were also sensitised to various aspects of oral health, general hygiene, significance of balanced diet and risks due to changes in lifestyle.
